COVID Friendly at Mutiny

We had a good morning at Mutiny/Red October with a total of 9 PAX. Five of them opted for kettlebells at RO while the remaining 4 opted for a boot camp beatdown that was COVID friendly from the size of the groups to the nature of the workout.

It all began with EC featuring LED, Buttermilk and YHC and a slightly modified route.

Once returning to the parking lot we had a few minutes to offer a COVID-friendly greeting and it was game on.

FNGs: None

2.0s Free Willy the Whale While Acting Like Animals

19 PAX and 2.0’s gathered at the Wobble Tennis courts. A few had to make an early exit. I’m missing 2.0s and PAX here, please send me your 2.0 names then I’ll get them added (a recorder would have been smart on my part! Also AO was on Saturday, 3/7/2020, apologies for the late BB!)

FNKs: Welcome FNK Buzz and Sonic!
Warm Up: 2 Tennis court laps, 10 x SSH, Frankensteins, Daisy pickers, Imperial Walkers, Mountain Climbers, Crazy Goofballs
The Workout: Free Willy! Bear vs. Crab soccer and Murkin Tag

Game 1: Free Willy! (yes its a kids game) Willy is an friendly Ocra that wants to travel and the PAX helped him with that today. PAX divided into 2 team. A member of team 1 threw Willy and called out an animal type (ie: Bunny Rabbit). Team 2 did Bunny Hops until they reached Willy (since Bunny was called). Slug was a favorite, Shark was pretty intimidating. Cheetahs and Tigers move really fast! Willy was passed among the PAX until everyone moved him, and then Team 2 threw Willy. While Willy was being rescued, Team 1 did SSH during this process, while the “throwing PAX” ran laps around their team. A point was scored for every lap. Ending scores were 135 and 130.

Game 2: Bear vs. Crab. Team 1 started as bears and team 2 was crabs. Team 1 scored first, everyone switched animal types and then team 2 scored. There was a third goal scored it was either a bear or a crab that scored it. The ball would get stuck in a corner and PAX typically bunched in. Good strategy was to get to the open space!

Game 3: Murkin Tag. 5 taggers chase their fellow PAX and 2.0’s. When tagged, PAX did 5 murkins and then went back into play (2.0’s did 5 SSH instead). 3 rounds of this for maximum fund

Mary: Snake Tunnel. PAX created a tunnel by getting into Downward Dog position. 2.0’s snake/army crawled through the tunnel and then bear crawled to the front again.
Announcements: Welcome 2 new PAXs!
T-Claps (Recognition):Ā  Dads bringing their kids out on a windy day and keeping all their 2.0’s engaged!
Prayer: Healing for broken leg, COV-ID 19 safety

Fast moving PVC

Last session of speed racer before taper week and the Wilmington race. Guys have put in a ton of work past couple of months. We had 10 total PAX at today’s AO. A couple of newbies to SR as we all gasped for breath a lot today. The fence was jumped at some point during the workout by you know who to fertilize the trees. YHC explained the workout, passed out some PVC batons and we started. Here is the low down.

FNGs: Do Not Exist at Speed Racer but we did have a HC fartsack.

Warm Up: Skip jumps, high knees, butt kickers, hip openers

The Workout:

60 sec recovery
20 min partner relay
-both partners run the whole time. P1 runs race pace 30-60 secs faster w/baton on inside lane while P2 runs race pace 30-60 secs slower in outside lane. Once P1 catches and hands off baton, swap speeds. Should get in around 2.5 miles. Ended up being about 1000M fast runs trying to hand off the baton which was rather tough.
60 sec recovery
Partners run together
-1 mile (100M strides on the sides X8) cruise the turns. Thanks to Mr. Terrific we had 4 lights set up on the track to help us know where the straights started and ended.

Did someone say…Do a Movie?

I pulled in at Honeycutt Park at what I thought was 5:20. At least 7 vehicles in the parking lot. Noticed shovel flag already planted. I quickly looked at my watch to see if I was late. Pumps had texted me just as I arrived and asked: Is everybody running? Evidently…EC was in play with what appeared to be 6 vehicles. I was relived since I had the Q. I would not live it down being the Q and late.

EC: H1N1, LED, Fonzie, Butter Milk, HOA, Fedex

FNG: Chris (H.O.A) Welcome

Warm Up: As we struck off for a mosey aĀ lap around the club work a truck pulled in HOT. Could not tell who it was. . Circled up for the following:Ā SSH-25, Imperial Walkers, Hillbillies, Moroccan Night Clubs, Fazio Arm Circles, Daisy Pickers, Seal Claps, Overhead Claps

We separate into Munity & Red October. Duaber had the Q at Red October and LED joined him.

The Workout: Moseyed to the rock pile and YHC advised to get a smedium rock. Rock would be traveling with you. Over to the soccer field where the following took place:

IC 20-Curls for The Girls, John Q to middle of field, 15-Merkins, Sprint back to start, 20-Tricep Extensions and sprint to middle of field, 15-hold Plank alternating rock taps, sprint to start, 20-Squats sprint to middle, 15- Merkins sprint back to start. This was a 3 rounder.

Moseyed to parking lot where we lunged with rock to middle of parking lot island, bear crawl with rock back to start. Repeato

Next PAX laid on our backs and formed a Train (every white line). Hold 6ā€ while rock is above your head IC PAX would run in between start to finish with rock. We went through both sides of lot. IC various core exercises, hold rock 90 degrees, WWI. Dropped rocks for curb to curd work exercises. Merkins, Derkins and Erkins on my count. Returned rocks to rock pile. Lined up on curb for dips IC. Returned to parking lot area and bear crawled to every white line, Merkins from 1-6. Noticed Dauber was ready for Mary. Moseyed to tennis courts.

Mary: Dauber took Mary with several core exercises and ended up with some good stretching.

Announcements: Saturday F-V has walk at Noon starting at Mineral Springs. 1 Free beer at the end of walk. Dauber is putting together movie night (DO A MOVIE). Info to follow. Check Slack & Facebook

After prayer it was brought to our attention that Norm was the reckless driver. 5-Burpees OYO!

It was an honor to lead! I appreciate the opportunity. Sprinkler

Told you I’d get it up…. Possum Trot 3/4

FNGs: None
Warm Up: SSH, IW/HB, Frankensteins, Cotton Pickers, Indian run with ā€œdrop and give me 5 merkinsā€ down to the concession stand. ā€œMusical conesā€ – bear crawl to cones, whoever is last gets 10 burpees while ā€œwinnersā€ get monkey humpers – remove one cone rinse and repeat until final winner is crowned…. with more burpees.

The Workout: Theme of the day was about picking up the six, specifically not letting another PAX struggle with life alone.

So we partnered up and did three workouts where failure was inevitable. Balls to the wall until someone bails, broke back merks until someone bails, and forward facing Bubba/Forrest Gumps (deep squat holds with interlocked hands holding each other in balance). Which ever partner group bailed out first, the other PAX got to do burpees while the ā€œfailingā€ group recovered. The point being for all of us to encourage, cheer on, not allow the others to fail and when they did we pay the price for them to help carry the burden. PAX suffered through two rounds of that only to be greeted by the tennis court marry go round of stomach pain-

starting at one corner, WW2 x 10, bear crawl to next corner, American Hammers x 10, bear crawl to net, low slow flutter x 10, bear crawl to corner, LBC x 10, bear crawl to corner, heel taps side to side x 10, partner carry the long side back to start – rinse and repeat

Mary: we listened to NEEDTOBREATH ā€œhard loveā€ while squat holding. Message is in the song
