Things got done and so did this backblast!

FNGs: nope

Warm Up: Good Mornings, Bounce, neck rotations, spinal rotations, foot traces, hinge stretch, windmill. Finish with a lap around the block to get the HR up.

The Workout: Find a partner with a similar sized bell! Partner 1 would either run the stairs or farmer carry their bell to the end of the deck and back. This differed between the 9 exercises below. 3 times we would pause the exercises and partner 1 takes the stairs while partner 2 farmer carries both bells and then we switch and repeat.

Exercises –

  • clean and press (stairs)
  • swings (farmers carry)
  • single leg dead lift (stairs)
  • ballistic row (stairs)
  • off set pushup (farmers carry)
  • Midge cookie pouch (stairs)
  • nipplers (stairs)
  • goblet squat (farmers carry)
  • floor press (stairs)
  • Mary: American Hammer ICx10, Homer to Marge IC x 20, Low Slow Flutter IC x 20. All were done with bell.

FNGs: Welcome (Wilson Robertson) Drum Circle! He went to App State and said it was a pretty groovy experience..  Thanks for bringing  him out Fonzie.

YHC made my inaugural Q at TBD so I wanted to make sure PAX got their money worth on this fine Wednesday morning in the gloom.  Seven of us headed out for Extra Credit with great pick ups of the 6 along the way. Returned to the flag for about 10 more PAX ready to get after it. Fonzie let me know we had an FNG so I laid down the disclaimer and off we went.

    Warm Up:

A quick mosey to the center of the ball diamonds and then circled up for:

    • Good Morning x 12
    • Windmills x 12
    • Frankenstein x 12
    • Spinal Rotations x 12

Inspired by Billy Madison’s journey through back through school, this routine involves a running loop and exercise per grade. Begin with a loop (to simulate the grade) followed by an exercise with 12 reps as the exam. This concludes 1st grade. Run the loop again, followed by the 1st grade exercise x 12 reps plus a new exercise x 12 reps. This concludes 2nd grade. Continue with the loop and adding an exercise each time until you’ve completed one loop and exercise combo for each of the 12 grades.

Mary:  We returned to the flag with enough time for 12 count low slow flutter. Have a nice day.

Announcements: Check Slack and FB for information on the upcoming F3 picnic, bed build, and CSAUP.

    Prayer: Unspoken. Sham Wow! Laettner

YHC took us out. Always an honor to lead.

    OG U-turn returns

25 PAX got a taste of the old school route this morning. We had a bunch of ECers run over from Jones Park as well. Lot of good chatter on this brisk morning. Nice work picking up the six. The 3 mile group did some yoga after their run. Pikachu called in sick so YHC stepped up for some May points. Nice work all around.

We ended with prayer as always.

Thanks for allowing me to lead.

    BS out!

No Frills, Just Thrills at Disney

19 PAX for multiples of 56 at Disney. Indian runs and classic F3 exercises took us 3 miles around the park. Solid work by all! Great way to celebrate 56 years. Pleasure to lead.

EC: UTI, Maybelline, Nemo, Fanny Pack, YHC

    ME: @Warren Brendle @LipSync @Fanny Pack @Banana Seat @U.T.I. @Bobby Dall @Bobby Boucher @Kosher @Fancy Feast @187 @Nemo @Mookie @Maybelline @Roger Roger @Fanny Pack @Banana Seat @Lipstick @Warbucks YHC

Today’s theme: 56 in recognition of my 56th bday.

    Warm up: 14×4 = 56 – 14 good mornings, 14 goofballs, 14 arm circles, 14 somethings

Kickoff: At any site, you gotta use your resources. Here at Disney, I love the artificial turf.

In a format similar to 11s, we lined up for burpees on one side and select exercises on the other side. Reps of burpees times other side reps = 56

    • Round 1: 1 burpee, run to opposite, 56 SSHs (1×56)
    • Round 2: 2 burpees, run, to opposite, 28 squats (2×28)
    • Round 3: 4 burpees, run to opposite, 14 Turkish getups (4×14)
    • Round 4: 8 burpees, run to opposite, 7 mtn climbers (8×7)

Indian run to carpool drop-off circle.

    • Divide into groups of 4/5.
    • Sevens (7s) with WWIIs at bottom, star jumps at top, GO!

Indian run, split into two groups, back to turf center circle.

Mary: Just enough time for a full round of Jack Webbs (30). This is one of my Disney favorites that I learned at one of Nemo’s workouts. Another good one for that soft artificial turf.

I’ve been ending my Q’s with a blast of classic rock. Today it was Chicago’s 25 or 6 to Four. No particular theme tied in. Spotify played this for me when I was searching songs. This classic is among many, many others that were routinely played on the radio in the 1970s, which was the heart of my childhood (age 5-15). Hope you enjoyed!

Announcements: LipSync shared successful F3 South Wake to support Brandon, who he routinely pushes in Brandon’s wheelchair on runs. Brandon has cerebral palsey and lives with his mother. Her cleaning business is way down due to Covid-19. F3 South Wake more than covered their immediate needs. Also Warbucks announced a challenge at Cletus to earn the Q for U-Turn on Saturday.

    Prayer: unspoken

TClaps: All for keeping me motivated. Fanny Pack for the May Challenge–great idea, great execution!

Baker’s Dozen at a Respectful Downtown Train

FNGs: None. welcome back kotter – KOSHER!  Great to have you back in the gloom
Warm Up:  Circled up after a bunch of PAX ran 2 miles EC in the rain.  Thanks for picking up the six men.  Began with 20 SSH, daisy pickers, sir fazio (F/R), seal claps, overhead claps, Don Quixote, and Imperial Walkers.  Gave PAX an overview of the workout and we were off to library hill, not the parking garage.
The Workout:  Ran down library hill.  SAFETY Point:  only one PAX had a head lamp.  Completely poor leadership on YHC.  Thank you Lipsync for lighting the way.  Stopped at the stop sign/fire hydrant and cranked out 10 squats.  Proceeded down the road until we reached the cross walk.  5 burpees OYO.  Mumble chatter had continued from the warm-up….something about would this be a running boot camp?  From Dauber?  PPPLEASE!   Back to the fire hydrant for 10 merkins. What goes down must come up?  Heading back up library hill. At the top, conducted 10 star jumps.  Off to the rock pile.  Asked PAX to get a medium rock.  Size does matter.  11/13 rocks were fine.  Other two…I think they were replaced for bigger ones.  Lined up near sidewalk until a car was spotted and we moved again on to the sidewalk.  Once again, better leadership was needed by me.  We did A LOT of exercises with the rocks in cadence mostly.  Exercises included, curls for the girls, tricep extensions, slap rock, toe taps, rut-rows, wonder bras, upright rows, squats, overhead press, ground pounders, bus drivers, etc.  From our six, more rock exercises including nipplers, straight arm curl, 6 inches with rock above chest, box cutters, etc.  Returned the rocks.  Thanks again to Lipsync for lighting our way.  Off to the amphitheater wall by library.  All PAX participated in 10 count BTTW or people’s chair rotating between the two exercises.  Running out of time head to flag for Mary.
Mary:  American hammers, box cutters, protractors (some trouble with math due to Dauber’s public education), H2M, six inches, etc.  Finished with some yoga including DD, chair, pigeon…
Announcements:  Build a bed; Run for HSPD/officer in need; see Slack/FB.
T-Claps (Recognition):  Fundraising for Brandon Rizzuti (and his mom) for the purchase of a new chair and local company gift cards! T-claps to those who organized (Lipsync) and everyone who donated bottles and all PAX who purchased raffle tickets.  Good luck everyone.
Prayer:  Thank you Norm for leading us out in prayer today.  Prayers for India, injured PAX – including PAX who was in a bike accident, Deuce’s surgery, first responders, for our country, Unspoken….

Finished with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  I saw this at AGS by Full House.  I love this idea.  Encourage other Qs to incorporate in their workouts.

    Honored to lead!

Thank you to Quiver for asking PAX with RESPECT to lead DT in the month of May.

Will the Pax bounce I did a terrible job explaining the main event.
We did some other warm up excessive. Everyone felt froggy.

    The Workout:

At each light pole was a stop. 2 x 36# and 2 x 22# kettlebells where carried to each pole and back to the start. The Pax was doing build them up suicides. This means at Pole 1 they did Break Dancers (Side kicks). At the start they only did break dancers. At Pole 2 they did 5 Prisoner Squat Get Up Squat Jumps. At the start line they did 3 break dancers and 5 Prisoner Squat Get Up Squat Jumps. We kept going until we learned how to defend ourselves.

    Exercises:
    Pole 1: 3 Break Dancers
Pole 2: 5 Prisoner Squat Get Up Squat Jumps
Pole 3: 10 Carolina Dry Docks
Pole 4: 20 in cadence LBCs

Really good mumble chatter on the run.  9 PAX logged some miles on a great day for running.

    The elusive albino deer

    FNGs: none
Warm Up: SSH, IW, DP’s, Good morning
The Workout: 4 ruckers  + a 2.0 took off for a 3 mile route and some weight based walking.  23 ran 5+ through the Springs this am, with a trip up Elm and a short jaunt on Johnson.  A late pick up of Vasoline and a new route finally gave him the spotting of the elusive albino deer.  Now the real question must be answered…what’s Vasoline searching for now?  An albino racoon, possum, beaver?  Nice work today gents!
Announcements: Still time to get in on the May event, see Fanny Pack for more details…must have 4 PAX to enter.  Yogurt starting some new trail running, catch up with him for more details
    Prayer: unspoken today

    Ooohhh Yeeeeaah!

Today we celebrated the life and wrestling lore of none other than the Macho Man Randy Savage. Though we didn’t get to nearly as much as YHC had planned, we had a raucous group of PAX making noise all throughout the neighborhood we should be quiet in. But that’s the way the Macho Man lived…insane in the brain, flamboyant, say it if you want to, and badass to the core!

    FNG’s: none
Warm Up: Good Mornings x10 IC, 10 Burpees OYO, a mosey down into the hood, and we all know that the Macho Man could party like a rock star so…Moroccan Nightclubs IC x10. Finished with a mosey to the final cul-de-sac.

The Workout: So Macho Man’s first famous feuds were with Tito Santana and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. Back then, the Macho Man was smaller, high-flying, and faster. We circled up for a fast-feet/up-down progression for about 3 minutes.

We then remembered Miss Elizabeth, such an important part of the Macho Man journey,  with Pickle Pounders x20 IC and Hello Dollys x15 IC.

PAX were instructed to return up the hill stopping at every “rope” (intersection) for some exercises, because Macho Man was never afraid to go to the top rope. Street 1: Star Jumps x15, Street 2: Squat Jumps x15, Street 3: Prisoner Squats x15, Street 4: The Top Rope, 15 Burpees OYO. Finished with 15 SSH IC before exiting the hood to go to church.

At the church parking lot, we referenced yet another famous feud with The Ultimate Warrior. If you remember, whenever the Ultimate Warrior would start his “comeback” in any match he would do something like an “airpress to the spirits” or whatever. So we did Jack Webb’s 1:3 ratio up to 5.

Now how did the Warrior always enter the ring? Running. Split PAX into 2 groups. 1 Group would Indian Run around the U at the church, while the other group did a suicide sprint to a series of 6 cones. Then, groups switched roles.

We did not forget that weird period where Macho was all in to Queen Sherri. Homer to Marge x 20 IC.

A quick mosey over to the rock pile for a reminder that Macho Man had also joined forces with, then split with Hulk Hogan…the largest pythons in the world baby! Curls for the Girls x 30.

Macho Man also got married to Miss Elizabeth shortly after the feud with Hogan. A famous scene unfolded in the WWF ring with the Macho lifting up Miss Elizabeth over his shoulders. Alternating Lunges IC x20, Overhead alternating presses with rocks x 20IC.

Unfortunately, YHC started running out of time here. But we didn’t want to forget that Macho Man got SWOLE!!!! in his later years of wrestling. Hand Release Merkins x 20. We finished with a mosey back to the flag.

Mary: 10 Burpees OYO upon return. Then, the entrance song for the Macho Man, Pomp and Circumstance, guided us for 4 minutes through a plank-o-rama, finishing with 20 Good Mornings. Have a Macho Day…Dig It!!!
Announcements: It’s on! May Monthly Challenge is live tomorrow.
    T-Claps (Recognition):
Prayer: POTS son, going into the Air Force. Police around our country, Delaware Cop and family after tragic incidents. Truth in Nature (Roger Roger), a ministry for boys without fathers/dads. Gillette and shoulder surgery healing, as he walked up to the COT toward the end. YHC took us out!

    Not many fan favorites

YHC preblasted some track and field type activities this morning at TBD. To much disappointment there was no javelin.

    FNGs: None this morning
Warm Up: Imperial Walkers, Hillbillies, Sir Fazio Arm Circles, Seal claps, Overhead claps, Moroccan Night clubs, and some modified SSH where you only brought the arms half-way down
The Workout: The original plan was for a merkin mile but was modified to merkin 1/2 mile or slightly more than 1 loop around the soccer complex. Finished at the pavillion. In the ampitheater. did some sets of preacher chairs, balls to the wall, and single leg box jumps (modification was a step-up). Mosey to the rock pile for Jack Webb-Shot Put-Bear Crawls. 1 merkin/3 over head press with the rock about 16lbs (weight of a shot put). After the overhead press Pax would shot put the rock then bear crawl to it. Continued all the way to 10 merkins/30 overhead press. Mosey back to the pavillion. The hardest race is the 800m. So we did about a 600m run at our best pace. Made the U at the soccer field then picked up the 6. In the grass area by the tennis court Pax did burpee triple jump. You can figure this out on your own.
Mary: Some abs and some Skidmark typical plank holds.
    Announcements: May Challenge
    T-Claps (Recognition): Tetanus birthday today
Prayer: ShamWow hopefully on the mend, Family of little girl in Garner killed by Dog, Strategry’s daughter trying to get into NC State
