RailRoaded At TBD

You know it’s time to start the workout when FloJo, Hardy, and Poopeater arrive. Today, they were about 30 seconds late. Ordinarily, they are exactly on time at 5:30, a just-in-time operation!

Warm-up: Mosey + Burpees

Mosey onto Stinson, stop at first parking lot, SSH 25x

Continue mosey down Stinson to Noonday, 10 burpees OYO, mosey back up to parking lot.

There’s your warm-up! Dawgpound: Why did we have to go down the hill to do those burpees? Because after Q’ing and working out at Womble for so long, we needed a different warmup.

The Thang: Railroad Tracks

After having fun with this format on Monday, I decided to continue today.

In the parking lot, each of the 12 PAX planks up on the first 12 lines. First PAX (YHC) runs to end of PAX like an Indian Run to the first open line. Plank up. Each PAX follows until we reach the end. My idea was to simply run back to the beginning from there. But, the first PAX to round the corner (Cowboy?) found a whole new set of parking spots around the corner, paralleling the first set. He started the railroad there and we returned same as we came. Bonus!

Next sets of exercises, same format: Guantanamo, 5 hand-release Merkins, WWIIs before your run to front of line. PAX holds 6 inch while the one PAX does WWII.

Mr. Clarity (i.e., Pablo) kept asking questions, claiming that he was just seeking clarity. Seemed suspiciously like he was trying hi-jack my Q! Indeed the Fritter Goobers brought more chatter to this parking lot than it has heard since the last installment of Ivan.

Balls to the Wall by Request:

Sprinkler and POTS were disappointed we did not do BTW on Monday. So, making sure not to disappoint, we moseyed to the amphitheater. OK, so Sprinkler was genuinely happy to have this exercise, pretty sure he could go 5 minutes. POTS was not as pleased.

Upon finishing up the WWII railroads, PAX moseyed one-by-one down to the amphitheater and took People’s Chair position on the wall. First round 10 second count by each PAX. FloJo is now famous for his I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X counting method.

Mary: American Hammers, pickle pounders, LBCs, etc.

Announcements: Check Slack

Prayer Requests: Sprinkler and his family as they lay his father to rest today. Dawgpound safe air travels. FloJo as his family considers adoption.

And Tonight’s Lucky Number is…13!

7 Pax gathered around the flag on a crowded night at Womble. So glad to see our brother Sprinkler tonight on hand and with a double down too! YHC got to introduce everyone in the gloom tonight to my lucky number…13. Just about everything tonight hit that number. FNG’s: No sir!
Warm Up: Short mosey to the baseball field parking lot. Pax circled up for SSH x 20, Daisy Pickers x 10, Sir Fazio Arm Circles x 20 F/R, and some Windmills x 10.
The Workout: A few rounds of 4 corners kicked the real work off tonight. The corners were: Merkins, Sumo Squat Jumps, Plank Jacks, and Prisoner Squats. Count started at 5 reps and progressed with each round up to 10. Pax moseyed btw corners. All done together IC. Way to go Pikachu for finding ways to modify moves he’s currently forbidden from doing!

Pax then headed to the rock pile, selected their poison, and circled up for a series of exercises all with 13 counts. Curls for the Girls x 39, (gonna do a little math here) Tricep Extend x 26, Ground Pounders x 26, Bus Drivers x 26, Shoulder Press x 26, Rut Rows x 26, Squats x 39, Goblet Squats x 13, Dead Lift x 13, Wonder Bras x 26, Rock Spanks (new to this Particular group of men) x 13.

Chest presses for a count of 13 would follow. After each set of 13, pax would do a burpee, then switch rocks. This would end the round at 8 burpees and 104 chest presses.

Rinse and repeat except after each set of 13 chest presses, each pax would do a wide grip merkin before switching the rocks. This gave us 8 wide grip merkins and 104 more chest presses. Moseyed to tennis court for a very short Mary.
Mary: LSF x 13, LBC x 13
Announcements: Long Ass Run.  22 miles coming up.
T-Claps (Recognition): Sprinkler on the double down on an extremely tough day as a man. We’re humbled by your example of toughness today sir! Babe Ruth for driving that bus with the best of em’ tonight.
Prayer: Sprinkler, comfort for his family. Unspoken. YHC took us out. Honor to lead!

Flag planted 5:25 am. EC: Full House, Halfway House, Mr. Terrific

Warm-up:

Moseyed to church parking lot, but it didn’t feel right. We needed a warm-up before the warm-up! Mosey up the one way beside My Way, across Main to Raleigh, then back down to Ballentine. Left on Avent Ferry. Found new TOHS parking lot, which felt cozy after the mosey.

SSH 25x, Wind mills 10x slow with good form, GMs 10x, 5 burpees OYO

The Thang:

Mosey to upper parking deck. After confirming with Nemo that the stairs were open, climbed all the way to the second floor, which was too far. Not the first time anyone made this mistake. Finally exited onto the “upper” deck.

Rail Roads. Launched a series of Railroad Track exercises. Here’s the idea: Line up like an Indian run with one PAX per parking stripe. The six runs past the entire PAX and takes the next open stripe. Continue as an Indian run to end of parking deck, then return on the opposite set of parking stripes.

  • Railroad Round 1: Simple plank Indian run
  • Railroad Round 2: Simple plank Indian run but hop over PAX ankles
  • Railroad Round 3: Guantanamo following same pattern
  • Railroad Round 4: Chill cut Indian run following same pattern

Mosey down the steps.

People’s Chair Indian Run. PAX lines wall immediately at the bottom of the stairs. First PAX, Abe, counts to 10, runs to front of line. Next PAX, YHC, counts to 10, runs to front of line. Continue until last PAX, Mr. Terrific has completed three runs to front of line.

Rail Bear Crawls. Mosey to handrails near corner of Avent Ferry and Ballentine. Sideways Bear Crawl down rails 4x. Lead with right arm, lead with left arm, lead with right arm, lead with left arm. Squat and plank hold while waiting your turn. Full House led 10x Merkins before breaking up.

Mary:

Popcorn Mary. POTS 5 burpees OYO. New exercise from Sprinkler—can’t remember the name, but start with short quick kicks, extending kick higher as you go. No Rockette performers in this group! Freddy Mercury’s, LBCs, WWIIs, and more. Ran out of time so Abe and Nemo owe use some Mary exercises.

What is this, a glow run?

Whether it’s training or Shield-Lock, or the combination of both, there was a strong showing of 34 PAX for U-Turn. After warming up, the group disbanded into a large bobbing body of neon light. A thought come to me, ‘What is this, a glow run’?…. A pretty cool sight!

Rolling in at 7:20 to a few cars from runners who had started much earlier I was happy to see Dauber and Sprinkler around. Other pax rolled in and Banana Seat ran in with ~-30 seconds to spare. But since YHC can’t do high impact burpees for punishment were out of the question.

Pebbles to boulders

FNGs: Not likely at 24 degrees

Warm Up: SSH, Daisy-pickers, Fazios, Flapping Birds, Imperial Walkers

The Workout: Too cold to stand around Womble, so YHC decided a field trip was in order.  Set out in a fellowship run and (taking a page out of Aquaman’s book) stopped at each intersection to build a workout, exercises = PAX choice.

Stop 1 = 10 merkins
Stop 2 = 10 merkins + 6 burpees (POTS birthday choice)
Stop 3 = 10 merkins + 6 burpees + 10 lunges
Stop 4 = 10 merkins + 6 burpees + 10 lunges + 10 monkey humpers

Proceeded to the parking deck for some ‘forest to the sea’ (bear crawl followed by crab walk) and then moseyed on to the rock pile.  PAX informed to select a ‘medium to large’ rock.  YHC noted an extremely liberal interpretation of that size range; seemed like pebbles to boulders.  PAX executed ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’ (deadlift into biceps curl into shoulder press into triceps extension = 1 rep X 10).  Moved three rocks to the right for PAX choice exercises including curlz for the gurlz, shoulder press and bus driver.  Returned the rocks for the mosey back.

On the return route PAX stopped at each intersection for ab exercises, building as before:

Stop 1 = 10 gas pumpers
Stop 2 = 10 gas pumpers + 10 pickle pounders
Stop 3 =  10 gas pumpers + 10 pickle pounders + 10 snow angels (Florence demonstrated admirable enthusiasm during cadence call, and neighborhood residents are now aware of F3).
Stop 4 = 10 gas pumpers + 10 pickle pounders + 10 snow angels + 10 plank jacks

Mary:Completed the mosey back to Womble for some smurf jacks.  YHC was due for an early morning meeting, so handed the keys to Dauber and he brought it home with WWIIs, Freddie Mercurys and yoga stretches.

Announcements: Happy birthday POTS!  51 big ones.  See social media re helping at Mama’s House

T-Claps (Recognition): The Masters for joining up again for a full beatdown, no Metamucil required.

Prayer:  Alex, family friend of Florence with cancer, military, first responders, unspoken.

Thanks for the opportunity to lead.  Aye!
