Man I love some old-school NES

18-strong at U-Turn, including 2 FNG’s on a freezing 24 degree morning!Ā  I’ve never had the Q where any FNG’s showed up and although I had the final say on their F3 names, I decided to allow a majority vote on 2 sets of names:Ā  the first set was Biden Bucks and Mittens and the latter was Mario and Luigi.Ā  While Biden Bucks and Mittens were great names suggested by Pikachu based on both FNG introductions to the group, I was sold immediately on Mario and Luigi when Dawgpound shouted it out.Ā  Let it be known to all that 1st of all both FNG’s knew each other so in my mind their names HAD to be somehow paired together and 2nd of all both had moustaches (no other facial hair…just moustaches).Ā  I grew up playing the original NES and I occasionally STILL play the original NES, but let me tell you as soon as Dawgpound suggested Mario and Luigi I took a look at both FNG’s and I totally saw Mario and Luigi….plus they were both FAST on the U-Turn route; it was like Mario Cart out there.Ā  Welcome Mario and Luigi!

FNGs: Mario and Luigi (recruited by Emeril)

Warm Up: mosey around the parking lot followed by some Michael Phelps arms, 10x Fazio Arm Circles (fwd & rev) 10x Good Morning’s, 10x Daisy Pickers, 10x Imperial Walkers, 10x Hillbillies, 25x-30x Merkins

The Workout: U-Turn standard route (always important to list the running route the evening prior to the workout so anyone joining us late meet us out there (cough, cough, Cupid, cough cough)

Mary: ran out of time unfortunately

Announcements: Sunday Q school, Holly Springs 1/2 Marathon registration now under way, my 1yr anniversary on Sunday 2.21

T-Claps (Recognition): Emeril for bringing out 2 FNG’s, 18 PAX showing up in 24 degree weather

Prayer: strength for the family and friends of a co-worker of mine that was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing a busy intersection Sunday night 2.14, prayers for Pikachu’s M, all the unspoken.Ā  YHC felt led to take us out today.Ā  It was such a honor to lead a group of PAX this big (definitely one of my bigger ones) and name a couple of FNG’s that literally hit the ground running on their first day of F3.

Frenchie’s Worst Nightmare

FNGs:n/a

EC:Ā Farva solo EC with the monthly challenge

Warm Up:pretty standard warmup with side straddle hops, good mornings, fozzy arm circles, and Michael Phelps.

The Workout: As I called the mosey to the rock pile Frenchie realized I had the Q, which is apparently his worst nightmare.

Grab a reasonable sized rock and partner up for this Dora style 100 rep challenge. We did several rounds of 100 rep rock work while the partner was in a static hold, and 1 minute of cardio in between sets. Sets included curls for the girls, tricep extensions, Ruh rohs, squats, and ground pounders. Partner with work included plank with rock, crab hold with rock, Supermans, and rock spanks with a few being repeated. 1 minute recovery sets included jump rope(fancy if you’re Gump), mtn climbers, Wonder Woman jets, with some repeated.

After that was completed we went to the wall for nonstop 11’s of bttw and wall sits in cadence.

Mary: 10 solid minutes of around the circle 10 counts of exercises, ending in 10 burpees oyo(he clearly didn’t know the rules at GP)
Announcements: Wrightsville and other runs coming up. Fuquay rotary club opportunities, holly springs opportunities to work with youth on outdoor guy activities that don’t have fathers at home.
T-Claps (Recognition): Frenchie for making it through my workout AND calling me out at the end for it not being hard enough.
Prayer:Sanity, the country, struggles at work and home

Purple Cobra 1/12 – Better late than never

FNGs: Nada
Warm Up: Good mornings x 10, SSH x 10, Merkins x 20, Fazio AC’s x 10 (front and back), Burpees x10
The Workout: Sorry I’m tardy to the party with the BB. Better late than never.

Moseyed behind the Teeter to the rock pile where YHC instructed PAX to grab 2 rocks. Make sure they travel well but will challenge you. Moseyed to the hill. You know the one.

Main Thing: DORA. Odd numbers left us with two groups: a 2 man and a 3man. One team mate excercises while the other sprints up the hill and back. Im convinced DORA stands for “Do Or Run Around.” 100 LSFs while holding your 2 rocks above your chest with arms extended. 200 Shoulder Presses with Rocks. 300 Squats with rocks.

After completing the DORA, YHC had PAX rock push back up the hill. Rocks were flat and the ground was wet so this was oddly satisfying.

After we reached the top of the hill, we headed to the wall behind the cleaners. YHC instructed PAX to place one rock in front and assume a BTW. 10 Rock spanks in cadence. Assumed a peoples chair position, getting a 10 count from everyone down the line and then ran it back.

YHC instructed PAX to circle up in front of the wall for 20x Mountain climbers. I think there was something else there, but its eluding me.

Return the rocks to their home.

Lets go get an oil change. Moseyed behind the Jiffy Lube to the guard rail. Urkins durkins and dips. Each PAX took a turn leading a 15 count of each.

Moseyed to Goodwill for some fast feet around the island, bear crawl to the next island, and then run it back.

05:52 Fast Pass Confirmed

Well, it’s been a few weeks since I’ve had the chance to return to AO’s. I’ll spare the details, but it felt good to be back in the middle and at my second home, DISNEY! Great numbers today that braved some ball clenching cold. I think we all warmed up relatively quickly…. Tetanus brought an FNG and I had a disclaimer chat with him privately before we headed out… LET’S GO!

FNGs: Welcome Tush!
Warm Up:Ā  Quick mosey around the PL return to circle up. SSH x50 w/ 2 sets of 10 at double time IC, Frankenstein x10, Windmill x10, OHC x10, Seal Claps x10, Pakistani Night Clubs (for M4L), Chinook x10 Fwd/Back, Arm circles R/L Fwd/Bck x10.
The Workout: Nice and easy mosey out of the lot to the elementary school PL. Circle up, Jack Webs x25, Standard Merkin x25.Ā  Continue the mosey around to the circle by the football field entrance. Arms out as 6 rolls in and hold. OHC x15, Moroccan Night Club x15 , Al Gore w/ around the horn counts from 5 PAX w/ 10 count.Ā  Continue the mosey in the big HS PL – Hand Release Burpees x10.

Mosey to the Abyss to punch our 05:52 Fast Pass – RIGHT ON TIME… 20 of us found accountability partners for a DORA. 100 Jack Webbs, 200 Squats, 300 LBC’s (IC to start, last trip up and down was single counts). Kicker was that partner 1 wasn’t just walking down and back up – but bear crawl down and up the stairs (thank you to 187 who did this about a year ago and I’ve done once since).Ā  We made 2 solid trips bear crawling and 1 as a walk up/down.Ā  Watching the clock, time for Mary.

Mary: Squat Hold for the 6. Big Boy Sit Ups x25, Homer to Marge 10 (+ L leg, R leg), Box Cutters x20. Have a nice day.
Announcements: Welcome FNG Tush!
T-Claps (Recognition): Nemo and ShamWow! for running EC. Emeril for the monthly challenge EC.
Prayer: For our country.Ā  Breach took us out.

Farmer Mickey

YHC signed up to Q Disney this week since he had decided with Skidmark that it would be a down week on the running front which meant no speed work at the track. One of my favorite AOs from the sheer breadth of things that you can do – today we didn’t need much more than the parking lot though.

I promised a new ride that hadn’t been seen before – the pax that made it out in the rain had the pleasure of farmer’s carrying “Mickey” throughout the workout.

FNGs:

Not today – would’ve been impressive in the 40 degree rain
Warm Up:

SSH x21

Burpee

Imperial Walkers x10

Burpee x2

Hillbilly x10

Burpee x3

Good morning x10

Burpee x4

Frankenstein’s x10

Burpee x5

Merkin x10

Burpee x6 (that’s 21 total for those keeping track)

Take a mosey for what will be our working lap – we made a loop between the parking lot and a small section of the greenway.

The Workout:

Partner up. Two sets of partners split up running opposite directions on our established loop. When they meet they perform 10x Hand Release Merkins the first time, 15x Squats the second, and 20x LBCs the third.

The other pair of partners stayed in the parking lot making a loop – one doing bear crawl, the other farmer’s walking with “Mickey”. The partners switch when they meet – another set of partners relieve them after a full lap.

After we all had a go with “Mickey” we had one pax carry him all the way down the hill to the road – the other 5 ran ahead and performed core work called by a pax. We repeated this up and down the hill until everyone had had their turn – core work included Low Slow Flutter, Nipplers, Shoulder Taps, and three other that my brain fails me on.

We then tucked Mickey away and out came the speaker – we sent 2020 off with a bang to Thunderstruck – SSH the whole time with burpees on every thunder/thunderstruck. Snap confirmed 33 total burpees as YHC advised.

Mary:

Homer to Marge x10

Yoga to let the heart rate come down
Announcements:

F3 turns 10 tomorrow
T-Claps (Recognition):

All the pax that beat the fart sack today and ended 2020 on a high note – 6 in Holly Springs and 6 in Fuquay means quite a few opted for the covers this morning. Let’s do better on the first day of 2021.
Prayer:

Breach took us out with prayers for our nation, first responders, and all those impacted by COVID.

DEPLOY THE B.L.I.M.P.S!!!!!

FNGs: NOPE

Warm Up: Windmills, Good Mornings, Fozio Arm Circles

The Workout:

Gump appeared on the scene with the impression that Purple Cobras wasn’t a running workout…. we run up a hill here most Tuesdays… so…

Started with a short-ish commute to Sunrise United Methodist for use of their vacant and well-lit parking lot.

Once we arrived, we went to the very back of the lot which left us with a long and narrow lot lined with light poles.

DEPLOY THE B.L.I.M.P.S!!!!!

This morning was about form and YHC asked that PAX “slow it down now”.Ā  We would complete these exercises together so we can take our time.Ā  I also told the PAX to let me watch the time… big mistake, read to the end…

  • Run to 1st Post
  • 5x Burpees
  • Run Back to Start
  • Run to 2nd post
  • 10x LBCs
  • Run to 1st Post
  • 5x Burpees
  • Run Back to Start
  • Continue on this way through 15x Imperial Walkers (IC), 20 Merkins, 25 Plank Jacks, 30 Squats

Before returning we completed 20x Low Slow Flutters

We ran out to the church lot entrance and completed 20x SSH

Running back to Purple Cobra, PAX completed some Erkins to await the 6 – The 6 was in and we kept moving down the hill

What hill you ask?Ā  Well ā€œthe same hill you ran last weekā€ā„¢ of course!!! – Sprint up the hill 1x to say we did

Run back for Mary

Mary:Ā  Homer to Marge, Pickle Pounders, Box Cutters, WW2s, Crabby Cakes, Burpees

Bobby Dall called out the Burpees at my request.Ā  187 was apparently watching the time and noted that it was the end of the workout.Ā  We did the Burpees anyway šŸ˜›

Announcements:Ā  3rd F gearing up for 2021 – join us, lead something

T-Claps (Recognition):Ā  187, thanks again PAX for all the prayers and support

Prayer:Ā  YHC took us out

6 Men, 5 Presents, 4 Minutes of the Boss, 3 F’s, 2 Miles, and 1 Lady Stuck in the Mud

The title aboveĀ  says it all, but some details will be here in the BB. Very honored to take the Q at such a great AO on such a great day. YHC wanted to get to as many places as possible today on the wonderful grounds of Disney to deliver the Christmas Eve beatdown. Don’t say I never gave you anything…

FNG’s: No…but Snap saw a friend post-workout and it sounds like that fella may start coming around to workouts!
Warm Up: Everything x 12. Good Mornings, Fazio’s, Imperial Walkers, Hillbillies, Daisy Pickers and a quick mosey lap. It was a this time that the 6 men returned from helping the 1 lady. Mosey over to the bottom of the big frisbee golf hill and split into two groups. We would need these groups for a couple gifts today.

The Workout:

Present 1: Two groups. Group 1 stays on the path and does AMRAP SSH until Group 2 returns. Group 2 does 5 burpees, takes the big hill, 10 squat jumps at the top, moseys along the ridge to do 15 merkins at the end, and mosey’s back. Then group 2 gets their turn. Indian Run to the community center, 2 lines.

Present 2: Group 1 Bear Crawls the length of the lot and at the end does AMRAP Monkey Humpers. When group 1 reaches the end and starts exercising, it’s group 2’s turn for the bear crawls. Mosey over to the wall behind the school.

Present 3: The whole PAX does a People’s Char for a 15 count per PAX. 2 Lines, Indian Run over to the large high school parking lot.

Present 4: A stacked up 4 corners with the whole group. 10 Hand Release Merkins, Sprint the long stretch down, then stack on 15 Star Jumps, then lunge walk the short end, the stack on 20 LBC’s IC, then sprint the long run back, then stack on 25 Pickle Pounders IC. 2 Line Indian Run back for Mary…was hoping to get to the Abyss, but not this time.

Present 5: YHC threw on the tunes. The great Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band! Their rendition of Santa Claus is Comin to Town is a bit over 4 minutes. So the Mary routine would be…
Mary: Constant AMRAP Squats with a burpee on every “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”. During the sax solo, we did SSH. I think we did, 16 burpees during the song… Have a Merry Christmas!
Announcements: Only 1 SW workout tomorrow at KungPOW…5:30.
T-Claps (Recognition): Deadbolt and DoubleD holdin it down on Christmas for us. The 6 Men (Deadbolt, Oboe, Dumbo, Buford, MadDog, and Roger Roger) helping the 1 Lady out of the mud up on the road. Apparently, she skidded off somehow this morning….HIM!
Prayer: Every PAX shared a hope for 2021 for their family. YHC shared that as men, we often want to fix problems, destroy obstacles, and provide solutions. Whereas we have many opportunities to do this, we shouldn’t lose sight of the times we are simply supposed to be present and walk beside someone else in their struggles and their pursuits…even those in our own home. YHC has been learning this lesson lately and wanted to share and challenge. There is the 3rd F, 2nd F was enjoyed by several after, and I’m hoping the 1st F delivered at Disney on this Christmas Eve. YHC took us out. Honored to be among these mighty men this morning!

I thought that was FedEx

Chilly, windy Monday mornings always brings out the best in people: great workouts, great mumble chatter, great fellowship. Nice to see a consistent showing at PC as 13 strong ventured out to let FML take the Q. We make this promise, you will get a variety.

EC Bells: Dawg and Emeril
EC Running: UTI, Lipstick, Skidmark
Commute: Pikachu

FNGs: One new member to F3 moseyed across the street to join rather than making the commute to Garner. Welcome Brah. Good thing he didn’t tell us he joined slack with a fake name or this could have been ugly. Someone pointed out a slight resemblance to FedEx.
Warm Up: Lipstick ran us up the ramp for some SSH, Imperial Walkers, and Hillbillies. Down the ramp for burpees for sleepy Kat and Frankensteins.
The Workout: Lipstick with the first Q who took us on a 5 minute mosey to the entrance to Oak Hall. The first one. BUT depending on you point of reference that could easily change. Regardless we had to run up there in 5 minutes and back in 3:45. Valiant effort.

Pikachu with part Deux. Suicides on the ramp. 3 star jumps at the bottom and Monkey Humpers at the light post. Add 3 humpers at each light post to get you to 39 humpers of monkees.

Mary: Skidmark at the rear. 3 man indian run to the courts for about 7 minutes of plank hold for varying exercises. Forgot Dumbo hurt his shoulder so he exercised his abs from his back. Lots of guys on their knees at this point. Guess they were all sucking…wind

Announcements: 2nd F leadership, 3rd F looking for more guys to join the committee
T-Claps (Recognition): FNG, Bondo is 60 and getting after it.
Prayer: Fanny’s wife, 187 and Tracey, Holiday goods and bads
