Abe Gets Hot for Teacher

YHC rolled up to the spot rarin’ to go. So much so that YHC locked his keys in his car. Doh! Oh well, F3 starts on time and ends on time, so let’s go!

FNGs: none (I’m pretty sure)
Warm Up: Ran down to Kelly Rd Park, circled up in the parking lot for:
SSH x 25 / Imperial Walkers x 10 / Hill Billies x 10 / Windmills x 10 / Good Mornings x 10
The Workout: Planned on using the baseball diamond for 7 of Diamonds, but Cataracts informed me that the field is probably closed. Modify as needed, so we did 7 of Diamonds around the parking lot. It went a little something like this:
Round 1: 7 Shoulder Taps at each corner, bear crawl on the long stretch, crab walk on the short stretch
Round 2: 14 Pistol Squats at each corner (7R/7L), lunge walk on the long stretch, frong jump on the short stretch
Round 3: 21 Merkins at each corner, lunge walk long stretch, bear crawl short stretch
Round 4: Copperhead Squat at each corner, lunge walks all around
This ate up most of our time, so we moseyed back to start.
Mary: YHC called a plank hold while waiting for the 6. It was apparent that we might be waiting awhile, so an audible for more Merkins was called. Ended up with 3 sets of 10.

Q-Swap Week – Disturbing the Peace

YHC hasn’t Q’d in a while and was eager to knock the dust off for Q-Swap. A workout was planned to handle a large crowd and to minimize the mumblechatter. Carpex is a difficult group to slow down. 13 for EC (of course SW PAX went for a run), 38 for the main event.

FNGs: Nope

EC: 2 milers: Warbucks, UTI, Slide Rule, Full House, Kosher, Redenbacher, Lipstick, 187

7.5 miles: Revere, Hanson

Warm Up:
YHC decided to start off on a high note with the slaughter starter (20 burpees OYO) to kill the mumblechatter before it really started. It slowed them for a bit before they were begging for a pledge and some good mornings.

A quick pledge of allegiance at the shovel flag and we were off on a mosey for carioca, side shuffles, butt kickers, etc. Circled up in the lot beside CC Jones park for:

Good mornings (SW style of course)
Goofball
Windmill
Sir fazio arm circles
Seal claps

Mosey back to shovel flag.

The Workout:
Thang 1:
Partnered up with PAX from rival territory for Flat tires across long parking lot with each partner working from 4:1 to 40:10 (wheelbarrow steps:merkins). When form broke down, YHC called recover and we mosey’d around to the other side of the church.

Thang 2:
Circled up for Howling Monkeys. 2 rounds were performed with each PAX doing 10 monkey humpers while other PAX held monkey humper starting position. Big circle, so we spawned off 2 active PAX. Slide Rule had enough and tried to stop the howling, but we continued for round 2. PAX then tried to mosey around to the other side of the building. It was at this point that Burt admired YHC’s pants and suggested I went shopping with M4L.

South Wake Invades Dante’s Peak

QSwap 2019 – YHC & Skidmark had the Q at Dante’s Peak. Loads of EC in play – Crazy Time, Pull up routine, EC miles.

The pax poured in and included an FNG brought out by Banana Seat. Disclaimers were read and we were off.

Warm Up:

Mosey to upper parking lot, performing karaoke, butt kickers, backwards run, and skips along the way.

Circle up for:

SSH x15 IC

Daisy Pickers x10 IC

Mountain climbers x10 IC

Standard Merkin x5 on Q’s up and down

Windmill x10 IC

Mosey down to end of parking lot

The Workout:

Pax lined up shoulder to shoulder facing back  the direction we came from. Dropping down into plank, on Q’s GO they sprint back to start/where we circled up.

Repeato back and forth, each sprint on Q’s GO with the following exercises (always held before the next GO):

  • Squats x15 IC
  • Low Slow Flutter x10 IC
  • Pickle Pounders x10 IC
  • Plank hold
  • Squat hold

Last sprint was down and back once YHC had used most of his allotted time. Pax circled up for Freddy Mercury x10 IC for one last break and then the reins were handed over to Skidmark.

QSwap continues to be one of YHC’s favorite weeks of the year. A huge thank you to all of the Carpex & South Wake Pax that helped make this happen, from Qing workouts to making long drives and clown cars to support Qs. We’ll certainly do it again next year!

Crazy for CarPex

YHC and Skidmark had the Q for Dante’s Peak as part of 2019’s South Wake/Carpex QSwap, so the obvious thing to do was give them a two for one and bring Crazy Time down to Carpex too. After confirming the clown car with Crosby the plans were set and Slack posts were made. No HCs were made from Carpex so YHC was worried, but thankfully they showed up.

We were warned that the park gates may not be open and that was confirmed to be the case. We found some Carpex Pax also looking for where to park – we landed at the subdivision past the park and we would use the mosey from there as part of our 1st mile.

Warm Up:

100 pull ups – it was nice being in Apex and having nice, real pull up bars

200 pickle pounders

300 homer to marge

Most pax did these in sets of 5/10/15 – Lipstick did some sets in 10/20/30, very impressive

Kudos to Hanson and Sub for joining our craziest AO. Found out during the workout they’re both fairly new to F3 – very impressive!

How hard can it be? This is a limited run AO

Q: Peeping Tom & Lipstick went down range to Tortoise in Carpex.  Thanks to Banana Seat, Straight Cash, UTI, LED and Pikachu for making the trip.

Warm Up: Circle the lot and circle up for SSH x40, Good Mornings x15, Fazio Arm Circles Fwd/Rev x15, Imperial Walkers/Hillbillies x15, Mountain Climbers x15, Merkins x20
The Workout: Count off and partner up: 1st exercise partner wheelbarrows across lot with nipplers x10 at mid point.  YHC looked out in the distance and called out Red Ryder’s FJ Cruiser as the end point (150ft); Repeat with partner swap on the way back.  2nd exercise partner 1 air squared at starting line while partner 2 alligator merkins to Red’s FJ Cruiser and run back to start (Both partners do each once)  3rd exercise Bear Crawl Burpees.  Each time YHC called out Grizzley, Pax came up from bear crawl and did a burpee.  Grizzley was called out to many times to count 🙂 Once we were at Red’s Cruiser, we did Jack Webbs.  Thanks to Yogi, we did 1/4 x7 and then Bear Crawl Burpeed back to start.  Mosey over to church and grab some wall.  YHC had planned for 3 sets of BTTW with Shoulder Taps x10 and People’s Chair x10 but thanks to mumblechatter, we did 5 sets.
Mary: Diamond Merkins x20, LBC’s x20, Pikachu reminded us we didn’t finish the Jack Webs to 10, so we did 8-10 with diamond merkins on set 10, boat cannoes x20, and my favorite diamond merkins x20

A Little Moist, eh

Running 4 the John – Speedwork Edition

15 PAX came out to join us in a little shake-up at R4tJ.  Great showing given all of the draw from QSwap and Fritters!  Thanks as always for showing up and allowing me to lead.

The Workout:

YHC provided some colorful chalk for PAX to mark their laps. On Lipsticks first lap he provided a different kind of mark behind the dumpsters at the first turn.  I dont think I need to tell you to steer clear of the dumpsters but just in case…

Once the laps were done, the group went backwards on the course forming a bigger and bigger Indian Run chain as we picked everyone up on the way (Nemo ignored us and kept running per the pre-blast.  I appreciate Nemo reading the pre-blast and sticking to the plan and the end, he was rewarded with covering more miles than any of us).  Half way around by the dumpsters we had picked up everyone, we turned around and continued the Indian Run until we turned the corner by the tennis courts.  A jail break was called and we all bolted for the basketball courts.

 

Mary:

For time, an audible was called to move into Mary and cancel the 1 mile cool-down (repeating the warm-up).  Dawgpound was nice enough to lead us in some yoga stretching which had the whole group making some “noises”.  Table Top, Pigeon Pose, Runners Pose, and Cobra Pose were among the rotation.  Thanks for jumping in on the cool-down Dawgpound.

  • Doug Stein – Done with surgery and in PT, wife has a scheduled C section and he wont be fully on his feet by then
  • Ausfart – Lots of prayers for Ausfart, sounds like he is out or will get out of the hospital soon for some home recovery.
