Veterans Day Dragon Route

YHC stepped up and crossed the aisle to take the Q at R4TJ today. Apparently, there has always been some beef between R4TJ and TBD, but as co-site Q at TBD, I’ve taken on a minor duty to try to bridge the gap this year plus I’m also adding miles to my repertoire and the guys at R4TJ push me hard and keep me accountable on that end.  YHC had a 3 famous hills route at about 5 miles planned, but apparently overnight, some batflipping by some PAX was being planned. Now as I understand it, batflipping is done for all kinds of reasons…some good… some bad. Today’s bat flip was for a great reason. About 2/3 through the route, the pax detoured on a route that took us to the memorial at Veterans Park. We stopped there and spent a few moments of reflection and prayer on those who have served and paid the ultimate cost for our freedom. Like I said… a great bat flip plus it helped us form the dragon route as UTI discovered.

FNG’s: None
Warm Up: Frankenstein’s and Daisy Pickers. Since it is 11/11… we also did 11 Merkins.
The Workout: 10 PAX got in their miles with a few other PAX sightings along the way. We ran.
Mary: Once at the flag, we did our last 11 merkins to wrap up.
Announcements: HS Half on Saturday.
T-Claps (Recognition): Skidmark for a good flipping idea!
Prayer: Shamwow!, 187, and YHC’s M’s dealing with health issues.  Our Veterans and Nation.  Let us not waste the health, life, and blessings we are given.  Push for something and make your life worth it. Take opportunities to make it cool for somebody somewhere else… serve. Honor to lead!

Let’s Just Get the Math Right

Today marked YHC’s 200th post this year. Apparently, I also posted at Sheepdog for my 100th post earlier this year. See what I did there…I have not been down to Sheepdog for a couple months now and man…that site has changed. A new middle school will be going up and as we drove in Hardy said, “This is a weird time to build a school…will anyone be in it?” I agree. But also, I’m so glad, that I didn’t intend to Q any Thangs on the large field because, well…it ain’t there no more! The pre-blast promised 200 reps of something or some things, plus a fire hose. So, YHC thought I would have a bit of fun initially with this promise. 7 PAX and a pooch for a penchant for making “fragrant” contributions along the way posted at Sheepdog  and put in strong work!

FNG’s: none

Warm Up: SSH IC x30, Good Mornings x10…quick mosey and then Frankenstein’s x10 IC and then the smell of some effervescent Pooch poop, so YHC called 10 burpees and then a move on. Upon the mosey to the next spot, YHC called 10 more burpees and some PAX said, “there’s no way this is the 200…there will be a Mutiny at Sheepdog!” I wanted to string everyone along a bit. Honestly, I’m not sure how you could work 200 burpees into a workout but I’m sure there’s always a way with F3. At this point, Shredder also commented that if YHC called this, during the Mutiny, there would be some close-quarter combat. Coming from Shredder, I really did not want any part of that! finished with 10 ct. IW’s and HB’s.
The Workout: Immediate rush to the benches for 20 irkins, 20 step-ups, and 20 dirkins. YHC then paused before calling the mosey to see if PAX thought perhaps this was the workout. Mosey to the back of the school where PAX came upon a fire hose at the far end of the blacktop. The Thang here was each PAX takes a turn carrying/running/walking/moseying/sprinting with fire hose from one end of the lane to the other. All the while, other PAX were completing an OYO running set of 200 merkins, 200 squats, and 200 dips. We got through about 4 rounds for all PAX on the fire hose before YHC called a “circle-up”. In F3…we pick up the 6…always. YHC asked the PAX how many of each exercise they may have had left. We went with whomever had the highest number and then the entire group would bang out the rest of the reps to complete that set. We did this for the merkins, dips, and squats. During this time, it was difficult to pick up the math to finish reps…16-Bit was bent on getting the math right! Who does what…who does how many, etc.
Mary: When YHC asked if there were any combatives today, the experienced site Q’s replied that they had done enough. So on to Mary. 50 LBC’s IC, 25 WW1’s, 13 H2M, 12 Pickle Pounders. Have a nice day!
Announcements: HS Half Nov. 14th. Holly Springs PD has their Angel Tree up and ready. Martini is a point of contact for this. Sheepdog and the Nest will serve as drop off sites for these items. Dovetail garage sale on Nov. 14th…all serious offers will be accepted! He moves and needs help on Nov. 15th. Breach will bring the TEDTalk on Nov. 17th.
T-Claps (Recognition): Martini completed a half on birthday number 40…did it in almost 10 less minutes than his goal. Great work brother!
Prayer: Dovetail’s move, Noah’s Ark and Lipsync, 187 and his M, YHC and his M, dealing with some recent, recurring, and worsening health issues. Shredder took us out.

Disney 11/5

11 men went on a magical journey to Disney World this AM @Sprinkler @Fanny Pack @Oboe @bondo @Nemo @Crab Legs @187 @POTS @Kosher @FRAM

Warm Up: A quick jog around the soccer field and 22 count reps of SSH, Imperial Walkers/Hillbillies, Windmills and Daisy Pickers

The Workout: We had our Friend Chesty Puller join us for a mosey down to Sprinklers truck for some coupons before we took a trip to the abyss. Once we arrived at the abyss we partnered up for a very exciting Dora that consisted of 100 merkins, 200 squats, and 300 LBC’s. When partner 1 was going to the bottom of the abyss for a ladder of burpees partner 2 would chip away at the exercises. Everyone had to take a turn, taking chesty to the bottom and bringing him back up, many coupons were also transported in the process. Took a mosey back to the parking lot for mary.

Mary: Circle up for some more 22 count exercises of Low, slow flutters, Freddie merceries, and some side plank reach throughs.

The point of the exercise was to simulate how it would be to carry someone on the battlefield if they were injured as we are on the verge of veterans day. A small reminder of the price some had to pay to keep our country safe and to protect our way of life.

Announcements: Winter CSAUP planning in the process will be a ruck style event that will span some of the AO’s in the Quay. Looking at the weekend of Dec 5th or Dec 12th. Details to follow soon.

Crab Legs had a great message to share about the importance of all the efforts that we have had around ALS research and how it is making a huge impact on his life as well as the lives of others.

Prayer: Keep Crab legs in our prayers, Fanny Pack, and his wife as she is working through some medical issues and for our country to move forward on a positive note regardless of the election outcome.

So You’re Saying You Were All Just Standing There?

It’s been awhile since YHC has been over to Purple Cobra. One reason I’ve taken on a lot of Q opportunities in the last year is because you learn a lot about the AO sites and usually something new for pain you can dish out. Today, I discovered that there is an abundance of nice smooth river stone rocks back by the Jiffy Lube. We used those today. We also ran quite a bit of 4 corners and did some other stuff on a strangely and suddenly cold morning on the brightly lit grounds of Purple Cobra. Apparently, I found out afterward during 2nd F that there was a rumor that we just stood around all workout. Nothing but heresay…

FNG’s: Nada
Warm Up: SSH, Good Mornings, Frankenstein’s, Annie’s, Mountain Climbers, Imperial Walkers, Fazio Arm Circles (F/R). Moseyed on over to the big lot outside of Fern Fitness.
The Workout: A stackable 4 corners was in order with different travels between. Round 1: Each corner was 5 burpees with a mosey in between. Round 2: 5 burpees, 10 monkey humpers with karaoke in between. Round 3: 5 burpees, 10 monkey humpers, 15 merkins with backpeddle to sprint between. Round 4: 5 burpees, 10 monkey humpers, 15 merkins, 20 American Hammers with fast feet (for some) in between. The merkins got tough by about the 6th corner and burpees…well we did quite a few of them.  Between each round was a 15 ct. IC LSF as we waited for the six.

Mosey over to Jiffy Lube for 40 dips, 12 SSH, 30 dips, 12 SSH, and 20 dips. To the rock pile. The PAX circled up with two handheld rocks for 50 shoulder press, 25 lateral raises, and 25 front raises. Lots of mumblechatter during this including claims of getting smaller rocks, who should always Q at TBD, who might get a rock thrown at them if they don’t stop smack talking TBD, and comments about not being able to use arms anymore. Finished up with an all PAX 5 count of BTTW on the imposing red wall. And…we found a broomstick.
Mary: Moseyed over (Oboe and UTI sprinted over) to the flag for Mary. 25 WW2’s, 25 Box cutters IC, 25 LBC’s.
Announcements: F3 HSHalf coming up Nov. 14th. Details and needs on Slack.
T-Claps (Recognition): Kosher for making a return to the Gloom. Solid work!
Prayer: Our nation on election Day today. 187 and his M with health issues. My M, Courtney, for some testing going on…we hope nothing too serious. POTS led big taking us out!

Pre- Halloween Revelry with a Heavy Friend

The heavy music was turned up loud, we went “trick or treating” a couple times, burpees were avoided, kettlebells were clanged, and a heavy friend (coupon) joined in the Halloween Hooliganry at the Underworld for Crazy Ivan. 10 PAX played along with YHC’s game of chance for their pre-Halloween beatdown.

FNG’s: none
Warm Up: SSH x 15, the 10 counts of Seal Claps, Overhead Claps, Good Mornings, and Daisy Pickers.
The Workout: The workout was simple. YHC brought a bucket of tickets, each with a different classic favorite Halloween candy pic on it. Each pic corresponded to a kettlebell exercise that was to be done AMRAP by the men while 1 pax (the timer) carried the pumpkin themed heavy friend (a 75 lb. cement ball skillfully crafted by Dahmer) down to a parked car and back. Repeato on this sequence a lot!

Exercises were: Reese’s – Horn Squats, Snickers – Bell Merkins, Skittles – Single Arm Shoulder Press, Twizzlers – Figure 8’s, Milky Way – Halos, Baby Ruth – Swings.

One caveat…YHC placed a few “trick or treat” tixx in the bucket. When drawn, the whole pax would travel a bit for short exercises. YHC put 3 such tixx in the bucket…2 were drawn during our time together. When they were drawn…we ran down to do a 30 ct. BTTW. Then next one was about halfway through the workout as we travelled up top to typewriter the parking curbs as a group before returning to the Underworld. As Halloween fortune would have it, the PAX never drew the 3rd “trick or treat” ticket…that would have cost us a short mosey, but 30 burpees. At the end of the workout, there were only 3 tixx left in the bucket that we didn’t get to. Lucky day before Halloween!

Mary: 20 Midget Cookie Pouches, 20 LSF IC. Have a nice day!
Announcements: Holly Springs virtual F3 half coming up…consider running or volunteering at aid station. More info to come this week! Mutiny moves to TING Monday for Ultimate under the lights! No metal cleats. Paradise City pax will still workout at TING that day…plenty on room on the turf for a change!
T-Claps (Recognition): Dahmer for his work on a new coupon for Crazy Ivan.
Prayer: Our brothers Shamwow!/187 and their M’s for some recent health issues they are dealing with. Kool aid just moved to area and his family settling in. Chaps stepped up to take us out. Thanks for playing fellas!

Tour de Rocks at Womble

During my EC route prior to the ME at TBD, I noticed many rock pits throughout the park that I’ve never had the honor (or pain) of visiting. I knew I had pre-blasted a “hunt” or “field trip”, but someone integrated and somewhat scrapped that idea for a chance for all the posting PAX to take their turn at some lesser visited rock sites. 7 PAX posted at TBD to wear out the guns on the stones…and some other things.

FNG’s: No sir.
Warm Up: Good Mornings, Imperial Walkers, Hillbillies, Seal Claps, Willie Maze Haze.
The Workout: Moseyed to the tennis court for some short 7’s to get the gears greased. On one side we had standard merkins, on the other we had Mountain Climber’s IC. then, the tour de Rock began. We stopped at 6 different rock pits and performed the following exercises in total during our tour: 50 Curls for the Girls, 50 tricep press, 25 goblet squats, 40 shoulder press, 40 chest press, 40 rut-rows, 30 IC wonder-bras, 30 squats, 30 IC rock spanks, 40 IC Ground Pounders, 40 Rut-Rows, 20 IC LSF, 50 Chest Press, 25 tricep press, 25 curls for the girls, and…grabbing some small rocks to finish…one in each hand…we did 50 shoulder press, 25 lateral raise, and 25 front raises. Along the way, we stopped on the baseball deck for 40 irkins, 40 dips, 30 irkins, 30 dips…no irkins, much to the dismay of 187…but wait!

When finished with rocks, we went to the picnic shelter for 15 count dirkins, and a 40 ct. of People’s Chair before heading off to Mary. In the end, we got just a bit more than 1.6 miles in too.

Mary: 30 WW2’s, 15 LBC IC.
Announcements: Holly Springs Half…consider running, consider helping. Nov. 14th. Details will be on Slack.
T-Claps (Recognition): All the pax, for cumulatively moving quite a bit of weight today.
Prayer: For 187 and his M…continued peace and guidance through health issues. For our nation, schools, communities and the impact of COVID, elections, and unrest. We need direction from God in these times. Reach out to others who may be needy mental health wise. You never know the impact you can make! YHC took us out!

We Just Cut This Grass, eh!

Casino Royale has a ton of space to work with. YHC brought the heaviest leftover coupons from the previous day’s adventures at Disney. We covered a good section of the Casino Lawn…but it was only a fraction of the lush acreage of this place.  5 pax and a pooch got after it on the fields of the casino and left very grassy.

EC: YHC, Norm, Nemo

FNG: nope
Warm Up: SSH, Good Mornings, Moroccan Night Clubs, Seal Claps, Overhead Claps, Daisy Pickers, Goofballs.
The Workout: Moseyed to wall for a 30 count each pax People’s Chair. A short stretch then Repeato with a 20 count. Mosey to the field where the coupons lay. The five beginning stations were: 100 lb, heavy bag flip, 100 lb. heavy bag drag, fire hose carry, bear crawl, and lunge walk.  Each pax would do their exercise station for about a 50 yard out and back. Typically, guys on fire hose and heavy bag would get 2 laps each round. At the end of each round we did an exercise to complete our BLIMPS! Pax would then rotate to next coupon station. BLIMPS! consisted of 10 burpees, 20 lunges, 30 IW’s, 40 merkins, 50 plank jacks, 60 squats, and 70 SSH for the !  Pretty well smoked we went to the Wall for some BTTW. Each pax did a 20 count, then a 15 count.
Mary: We stayed at the Wall for Mary with15 counts of Freddie Mercury, LSF, LBC, And WW1’s in 15 counts.  Complete the day with a 10 count per pax BTTW.
Announcements:lots to donate too.  Check Slack.
T-Claps (Recognition):Nemo for getting those heavy bags again today.
Prayer: Unspoken, Norm and his family as he’s away for training the next 3 weeks. YHC took us out.  I might put my toys away for a few weeks now.

Q By Committee at TBD

With no taker to the Q Sheet at TBD, YHC grabbed the Q with the intent of helping other fellow PAX step up and lead anyway by directing the workout. They did a fine job! A return of a Kotter in Big Perm came down to Womble this morning ready to work. Took him a few minutes to remember the lingo…but then he jumped right in leading series of counts like a pro. Welcome back to the Gloom…Big Perm!

FNG’s: None
Warm Up: All pax called out various exercises including SSH x40, Good Mornings, Windmills, Frankenstein’s, Fazio Arm Circles, Imperial Walkers.
The Workout: Asked Big Perm a question, “Run or Rocks?” Run it was. We ran up to the ball fields area and circled up for PAX choice exercises. 25 count merkins, 25 count squats. Continued on. PAX then called 20 burpees (much to discontented grumbles) and 20 Squat Jumps. Asked PAX if we want to “run or wall?”  Wall it was. 20 count each pax People’s Chair, 15 count each pax BTTW. We moseyed on. Next exercises were IC Mountain Climbers and Shoulder Taps. Continued the mosey to the other parking lot. I will say, the roughness of this parking lot might be a close second to that of Possum Trot as we found. YHC asked a pax, “run or rock”. This time, it was rock, so we performed a rock circle of various exercises with and without rocks with various counts that included: Shoulder Press, LBC’s, LSF’s, Boat Canoes, American Hammers, Curls for the Girls, Bus Drivers, Tricep Extensions, Rock Spanks, Rut Rows, Ground Pounders. These exercises were all devised by the PAX, including a break from format by Oboe, who called a lengthy rock push/lunge walk series. Beware of giving others power…

Rock return and mosey to ball fields sidewalks again for a circle of more SSH. The question wall or run was answered with run. So let’s run back to Mary.
Mary: Pax called exercises of: H2M, Pickle Pounders, Peter Parkers, LBC’s, and BB Sit-ups.
Announcements: Hygiene Ruck by Breach, Thursday evening…check Slack.
T-Claps (Recognition): Big Perm for the mighty return. All the PAX for giving us all a solid workout!
Prayer: 187 and his M…for strength and restoration/healing. YHC took us out. Honor to lead, honor to be led!

I Didn’t Know You Were a Plumber

Some workouts just have so many 1-liners that you really can’t name all of them…but the title of this BB is one of them! Why? You Ask. Well, it’s because one of the coupons of pain YHC brought today was literally a bag filled to the brim with wrenches. See…awhile back, Shamwow came up with this 5 week challenge of who could Q the best beatdown at Disney. 5 Spots were taken fast, 1 by YHC. The workouts so far have been tough and all have taken a different angle on how to deal out the pain in some unique ways. So I knew YHC had to cook up something a little special today. So my fellow PAX helped me clean out my garage of various heavy coupons for a beat down on the big field at Disney. We put this stuff to great use today! YHC got to the AO very early because I had no idea how long it would take to unload and set this stuff up in the field of darkness. But…it was my pleasure to put in extra effort today to cook up something special.

EC: A 4 mile route run by Dahmer, Full House, Shamwow!, Nemo, and YHC.

FNG’s: None…but they really missed out.

Warm Up: Quick mosey around the parking lot and then a circle up for Good Mornings, Sir Fazio’s, Seal Claps, Hillbillies, Overhead Claps, Windmills, Frankenstein’s, standard Merkins x12, Prisoner Squats x12…and off to the field.
The Workout: On the field the Pax would find stations, each with a coupon. Some larger than others…some very large. We would rotate through these stations doing AMRAP exercises while the “timer” PAX performed heavy bag flips from 1 cone to another and back again. That’s 1 station. Stations were:

100 lb. heavy back flips about 40 yards and back.

18 lb. kettlebell figure 8’s

15 lb. single arm shoulder press with garden block

30 lb. bag of wrenches deadlift

Recover on the fire house carry (2-3 passes of 40 yards)

25 lb. dumbbell curls for the girls

25 lb. dumbbell wonderbras

5 lb. dumbbells in each hand fast 1-2’s

25 lb. kettlebell swings

100 lb. heavy back chain drag about 40 yards and back

A few others used a large rainbow painted rock (thanks my 2.0 Julia) and a jump rope that were there for extra playing.

We completed two full rotations through all stations.

Mary: WW2 x30, Box Cutters x15, H2M x15, WW1’s x30. 5 last Good Mornings to stretch it out.
Announcements: Donate to Momma’s House Thanksgiving Meal Fund through PayPal. Thursday night hygiene product ruck. Check Slack and either Breach or Sprinkler for details.
T-Claps (Recognition): Big Perm…second post in a row. POTS for showing us the way by lifting and carrying the heavy back (instead of dragging). Nemo for showing on-time to EC.
Prayer: Pray for 187’s M and health issues. Full House took us out! Honor to lead men. Thanks for playing today.

We Don’t Do Bear Crawls Here

YHC took his first Q of the ship at Mutiny today! Always a great crowd, always hard work, but never bear crawls! At least, that’s the joke made by LED after YHC apparently chose a pretty tough bear crawl routine this morning. Always great to see the Fuquay Fellas!

EC’ers: LED, H1N1 (who peaced out prior to workout to do something even more important…celebrate his boy’s 14th trip around the Sun! Way to make a great move HIM!)

FNG’s: nope
Warm Up: Pax warmed up alongside the Red October crew before splitting. Moseyed around the parking lot for some Imperial Walkers, Hillbillies, Good Mornings, Sir Fazio’s, Seal Claps, Overhead Claps, Bent Over Seal Claps, Bent Over Overhead Claps, and SSH.
The Workout: Moseyed over to the short hill by fences and field. YHC had quite an array of counts while doing this routine. Merkins at the bottom and Fence Squats at the top of the hill. Merkin counts on the bottom were: 20, 21, 17, 7, 9, 12, and 7. Squat counts at the top were: 25, 20, 13, 8, 9, 20, and 30. Finished with 7 counts of standard, diamond, wide-grip, and hand release merkins at the bottom. YHC purposely kept most counts random to eliminate Pax predictability. At one point, I heard some mumblechatter wondering if we would spend the whole workout going up and down this short hill with two exercises…maybe an idea for the future! Mosey over to the bleachers next for a more predictable 2 rounds of 3 exercises. We did 30 dips, 25 step-ups, 15 close grip bleacher merkins, 20 step-ups, 15 close grip bleacher merkins, and 25 dips. Arms and shoulders starting to get torched!

We made our way to the tennis courts for 25 ct. prisoner squats, 25 ct. sumo squat jumps, and 25 ct. prisoner squats. We then did a bear crawl suicide routine. Starting at the fence, each Pax would bear crawl to a tennis line and perform a burpee, with each line adding a burpee. We did this across two full courts, giving us 8 runs of bear crawls with up to 8 burpees. Several Pax did an additional bear crawl to pick up the 6 toward the end.

Pax then journeyed out to the nearby wall for a all pax 20 count of People’s Chair, before returning inside the courts for Mary.

Mary: With Red October men re-joining, we held a plank hold for an all Pax 10 count. 40 WW1’s, 15 LBC’s IC, 10 WW1’s, 15 LBC’s IC. Have a nice day!
Announcements: Great 3rd F events this last weekend. Plenty of food and monetary donations to Momma’s House in the FV and great work done at the HS Food Cupboard. HIM’s galore! Breach is organizing hygiene ruck for this Thursday…check Slack!
T-Claps (Recognition): Bebop for not giving up on the bear crawl suicide and pax for talking him up as he finished. This is what it’s all about!
Prayer: Schools, our nation, Pax to be mindful to stay safe in COVID. Breach took us out. I think I’ll take this ship out sailing again soon…honor to lead!
