GOODWILL all around!

23 STRONG showed up for what looks like it might be the coldest morning we’ll have in April.  Pre Blast conjured up 9 HC’s to which all 9 were present and accounted for – Dahmer and Dumbo with FNGs in tow.  7 made it out for the EC including FNG “Sparty” while UTI ran from home to Purple Cobra for his own EC.  Day 2 of Virgin Q week and everyone stepped it up with attendance beating out yesterday’s impressive showing at Downtown Train.  Lots of sounds and smells permeating from this group of PAX on this cold morning, but we didn’t lose anyone to the HT John today –   Lipstick did find a new porta John behind HT for future consideration though.  YHC was proud to lead today – thank you to everyone for support, encouragement, camaraderie that I have experienced since joining F3.  (187 – special thanks for introducing me to F3).

Warm Up:

Started with a warm-up run around the Harris Teeter building and circled up near the gas station.  Per Dawgpounds Downtown Train request the day earlier we started off with 5 burpees OYO.  Those were followed by Hairy Rockettes (10), Daisy Pickers (12), Imperial Walkers (10), & Hillbillies (10) all in cadence.
The Workout:

We moseyed over to the Goodwill store parking lot where everyone partnered up.  Partner 1 remained at Goodwill and performed People’s Chair while Partner 2 ran around Goodwill toward Planet Fitness and the sidewalk heading back towards Sunset Lake Rd – once on the sidewalk the Pax was greeted with sidewalk chalk instructions to Bear crawl up the sidewalk until they reached the next instruction to start running again making a full loop around and back to Partner 1 they switched places. This was repeated for 4 exercises: People’s Chair, Merkins, Monkey Humpers & Mountain Climbers.  Those that finished early did plank hold to wait for the six. Starting to get close on time we moseyed back over to parking area near gas station and circled up for Mary.

Proud Mary

Good group of 10 Pax posted at Paradise City on a windy chilly morning and having to battle a VQ at Downtown Train. From what I hear the VQ was quality and the Pax were plentiful. No garbage smell this morning so we were ready to roll. No FNG’s.

Warm Up: Lots of mumble chatter as we started to Mosey so YHC perscribed 10 burpees and then 1 more for Pikachu mocking the 10 burpees. Mosey around the complex doing SSH, Fozio Arm circles, morrocan nightclubs, merkins.
The Workout: Pax mosey to the tunnel and partner up.

Partner 1 Balls to the wall and partner 2 runs the short greenway. Switch. Then partner 1 did People’s chair and partner 2 runs the long greenway. Switch.

Partner 1 Balls to the wall and partner 2 runs the short greenway. Switch. Then partner 1 did LBC’s and partner 2 runs the long greenway. Switch.

Finish with an Indian Run around the complex.

Mary: Easy finish to an easy workout. Pax stayed in plank position for 8 minutes. Along the way Pickle Pounders, Plank Jacks, Mountain Climbers, Side Plank crunches both sides, Catalina Wine Mixer, 25 merkins, R arm up, left arm up, r arm forward w/ L leg back, L arm forward, w/ R leg back, more pickle pounders, and finish with 5 burpees.

Get the Big Rock!

Warm Up:Quick lap around the ball fields and then to the large parking lot for some SSHx20, IMWalkx10, HillBx10, Windmillx10, CottonPkx10, Merkinsx10, SumoSqx10, WW2x10.
The Workout: Parnter up.  Worked perfectly with 8 in attendance.  Asked to select a BIG ROCK for the workout.  A 6 exercise Dora(I think that is what’s its called).  Partner 1 did the exercise while Partner 2 ran the length of the parking lot and back.  Each exercise was done to 100 reps.  Each Partner picked up the count where the other left off when returning from the run.  We did 100 reps each of WonderBras, Squats, Tricep extenstions, St Leg deadlifts, Curls for the girls, Bent over rows.  A quick time check said we didn’t have much time for what i had planned but we scurried(not mosey) to the steps below the Center where size does matter with your partner and each partner carried the other on their backs up the long steps, one step at a time.  Meeting at the top for a set of 10 Merkins and then around back down the path to the bottom for Partner 2 to carry Partner 1 up the steps.  No time for extra Merkins as we mosey back to tennis courts for Mary.

Prayer: Yogurts father in law had heart surgery, others unspoken.  Men, even though it was only my second Q, it was an honor to lead.

where’s midget

Midget had your Q today. He was also going for the Fritter. Dumbo’s workout yesterday must have been too tough for he was a no show for EC. He is the first official drop out when going for the fritter.  There was hope for Midget to arrive for the workout.  As the clock got closer to 5:30 it was clear there was going to be no Midget.  But wait at the last minute a Buick roles into the parking lot.  All got excited that Midget made his Q… it turns out it was an FNG.

I really wanted to head to the abyss so I decided to step up and lead.

Welcome FNGs:

Welcome Babe. Crab legs brought out Babe. He has been cutting down trees in his backyard. The name Paul Bunyan was floated and then Breach recommended Babe. For those that don’t know Babe is Paul Bunyan’s Blue Ox.

Welcome Diddy.  Pac-man brought out Diddy.  By the way he drives the Buick above.  He works at Epic.  Nintendo was thrown out then Donkey Kong and then finally Diddy Kong.  I believe Breach was two for two today.

The Workout:

Ran to the abyss. We went right into it. Partner up for the following.
Partner A did monkey humpers while Partner B ran down the stairs did 5 Burpees and returned. Then Partner A went down the abyss and Partner B did monkey humpers. We went down multiple times as we count down from 5 Burpees, 4 Burpees, 3 Burpees, 2 Burpees and 1 Burpees.

We then ran back to the bowl. One Partner ran up the one hill as the other partner ran up the other hill. We did 10 Merkins when the Partners meet at the bottom of the bowl they did 1 Burpee High Five. We repeated this counting down from 10 merkins to 1 Merkin.

Ran to the parking lot for the last bit. Circled up and did Circle merkins. Started with the Q doing 10 merkins. Everyone else planked hold. Then the pac to the right did 10 merkins. This went around the circle. If no break we went right into 5 merkins and then 1 merkin.

Hungry Like the Wolf(pack)

ExecSum: Survive and Advance. You it on got VHS? Learning to count. Wait til we get to 30. Apply Q School. Dream big.

Warm Up: Horizontal curls (triceps parallel to ground, hands up, curl arms) 15x

Windshield wipers (triceps parallel to ground, hands down, swing arms). Slide Rule grumbled about the difficulty or something, to which I responded, “Wait ‘til we get to 30,” so of course we did 30x.

Werewolf in honor of NC State Wolfpack, 1983 NCAA championship run. Completed today with near-full moon overhead. Werewolf = Downward dog to high plank to upward dog, keeping shoulder blades close together. Then reverse the path, 5x.

Reverse pushups straight from Holly Springs School of Dance, where teens hammer these out no problem. Start in crab position, arms press up/down like a dip. Start with both feet down 5x, then extend one leg 5x, then extend leg to 45 degrees 5x.

Mountain climbers 15x, Failure to launch 7x

Circle burp to “Hungry Like the Wolf,” again a shout out to 1983 NC State Wolfpack. While doing SSHs, each PAX shouts out their college team, which triggers a burpee by the group. Finished the last PAX at 3:30 minutes—Perfect timing!

The Workout: Mosey to amphitheater, where the stage forms a perfect ledge for dips. I called for 11s with dips and derkins. But I quickly modified since keeping count during 11s is a weakness. Modified to 11, 10, 9, etc. on each end, which incited the PAX. Yes, incited, not excited.

More 11s. This time with jump-ups onto the ledge and star jumps. Fresh off of Q school the night before, the Q remembered two items: “time in tension” and ending the workout ON TIME. So, I applied both. PAX really “enjoyed” the SLOW cadence count, especially when we were down to three or so.

Moseyed back to tennis courts for Mary.

Mary: Superman, followed by Australian Snow Angels. Long count. Followed by low slow flutter, again slowly with good form. Pickle pounders. And finally, held Superman until 6:30 am sharp.

Q Message from Survive and Advance: You don’t have to be an NC State fan to enjoy. As we do every March, I enjoyed the program with my family last night. Very engaging and funny and passionate about dreaming big. At first meeting with his players, Coach V announced that he was going to win the national championship. He designated one practice every year to cutting down the nets to celebrate winning a championship. Now that’s vision and dreaming big! His vision became a reality.

I offered my DVD. The Business was disappointed it didn’t come in VHS. Breach took home my copy, hopefully, he has a DVD player. And hopefully, he’ll watch it, be inspired, and share with others.

 

The Longest Balls……To the Wall

Pax of 17 came out in the gloom at PC. Good job men.

Warm Up: Jogged over to near Planet Fitness on Lassiter Road.  A treasure chest of stolen retaining wall bricks from Target were in an SUV. Circled up for Sir Fozio Arm Circles, Imperial Walkers ( I did hillbillies), Good Mornings, and some hamstring stretches.

The Workout:

Pax paired up with one doing exercises  at bottom of Lassiter Rd while the other ran up the hill to intersection at Sunset Lake road.

Exercises to include 100 Merkins, 100 Curls For the Girls, 100 Squats, and 100 Overhead Presses. Variation of plank hold to wait for the 6.

This was repeated with 50 Merkins, 50 Curls for the Girls, 50 Squats, and 50 Overhead Presses. Variation of plank hold to wait for the 6.

Pax jogged over to behind the cleaners to hold Balls to the Wall for each Pax to perform a slow or fast 10 count.

This was repeated with Peoples Chair 10 count down the line.

Jogged over to starting area for some Mary.

Mary: 30 count low slow flutter, 30 count of pickle pounders, 30 count of superman, 30 count of alternating superman.

The Workout:

Parking Lot – Merkin Shuffel @ 3 count

Jog  to bottom of Ting Climb and Partner-up

Partner 1 runs up Ting Climb and does 5 star jumps while Partner 2 Bear Crawls. After Partner 1 finishes Star Jumps, run and trade with Partner 2 who runs up Ting Climb and does 5 star jumps. Repeat until both Partners are at the top.

Jog back to bottom of Ting Climb

Partner 1 runs up Ting Climb and does 10 monkey humpers while Partner 2 does Backwards Crab walk. After Partner 1 finishes monkey humpers, run and trade with Partner 2 who runs up Ting Climb and does 10 monkey humpers. Repeat until both Partners are at the top.

Warm Up:12 PAX for virgin Q at Cletus. Quick Lap around the soccer field to get the heart going.  20xSSH, 10xgoodmorning, 10xmerkins, 10xmtnclimb, 10xcottonpicker, 10xmorrnightclub, another quick lap around the soccer field and to the rock pile.  Select medium to large rock
The Workout: 4 Corners:  Each Pax would complete a different set in each corner of the parking lot.  1ST SET: Corner 1: 20 Wonderbras, run to next Corner.  Corner 2: 20 Sumo squats, run to next Corner.  Corner 3: 20 curls for the girls, run to next Corner.  Corner 4: 20 total lunge squats, finish.  2ND SET:  Corner 1: 20 Bent over Rows, lunge walk to next Corner.  Corner 2: 20 straight leg dead lifts, bear craw pushing rock to next corner.  Corner 3:  20 total tri extension, lunge walk to next.  Corner 4: 20 total Lion Kings.  Return rocks and mosey to pavilion where we did 20 total one legged box squats while half the PAX did B2TW.  We completed 2 sets and then 2 sets of 10 Urkins, Derkins and Dips.

Disney’s very own has the Q

Did you know that Dumbo was Walt Disney’s favorite movie he made?  Seems like a fitting place for YHC’s virgin Q.  Thanks for the opportunity to lead you 31 Pax.

Warm Up: Quick mosey through the half pipe and back to the parking lot.  PAX circled up for the following: 24 SSH IC, 12 Good Mornings IC, 10 Fozio Arm Circles IC (forwards and backwards), Michael Phelps OYO, 10 Burpees OYO

The Workout: Mosey over to the big parking lot at the high school for 4 Corners with an accountability partner.  Pax did the following at each corner: 5 burpees, 10 plank jacks & 20 WWII.  Round 1 we moved between corners jogging on the long side and sprinting on the ‘short’ side.  For round 2 we replaced the 20 WWII with Al Gore for a 20 count.

Having finished round 2 it was time for a change of scenery so we moseyed back to the soccer fields.  With your accountability partner, one PAX runs to the middle of the soccer field while the other does balls to the wall on the fence.  We did two rounds of this.

Mary: PAX did 15 diamond merkins while YHC retrieved his phone for COT.  We then did the following: 20 Low Slow Flutter, 20 Homer to Marge, 20 Pickle Pounder, 10 Homer to Marge, 10 Pickle Pounders and Have A Nice Day!

YHC finished the morning with a few words about Lent.  During this time in the church year we are striving to either remove the things that keep us from being close to God OR to take on new things that would bring us closer to God.  That corresponds with this week QSource topic (The Jester) as well.  We all have things that keep us from being as close to God as we could be.  I challenge all of us to spend some time thinking about what they are for you and committing to work on them.  YHC took us out.
