What’s Wrong with You?

My first post at Disney was on January 2nd of this year. This was after starting F3 back in October and maybe 15-20 total posts up to that point. Not 100% sold on F3 yet, this was the workout that started the fire! I think it was a throwback co-Q by Deadbolt and somebody else. I had only heard of Disney from others prior to this.  Stories of a pax named Pablo who would make fellas “Merlot” on this thing called the Abyss circulated around me enough that I was honestly a bit nervous that this was the AO that I would simply not be able to keep up with, considering just coming off about a 3 year layoff from working out. The workout on January 2nd was focused, intense, constantly moving, and structured. We went so many places in the park in such a short time that morning. Though I started Q ing late in January, I knew enough to know that a quality Disney Q needs to bring it! So about 30 lbs. lighter and in much better shape YHC took the reins at Disney with 10 other pax ready to ride as many rides as we could.

FNG’s: none

EC: Nemo, Shamwow!, Mookie, Emeril

Warm Up: SSH, GM’s, Seal Claps, Overhead Claps, Frankenstein’s. Mosey to the big hill on the far side of the field.
The Workout: Take the hill stack. 10 burpees, take the hill. 10 burpees, 20 squats at the top.  Run the ridge, 10 burpees, 20 squats, 30 mountain climbers.  When I called this is when Emeril looked at me and said, “What’s wrong with you?”

Mosey to other side of fence for 5 count per pax People’s Chair followed by 30 ct. fence squats. Mosey to the Abyss.

We did split group 7’s on the Abyss with burpees at the bottom and WW1 at the top. Plank hold for the 6.

2 line Indian runs to the high school. 30 bench dips.

With Indian run lines remaining in effect, we did a few hill repeats with 2 merkins at the bottom, run to the top, 4 star jumps, back down, 6 merkins, to the top, 8 star jumps, on the way down, several pax were quick to let YHC know we didn’t have a whole lot of time to get back to the flag. OR they didn’t want to do more hill repeats. Either way, these pax were right on so we finished with 20 merkins. Indian run in a whole group back to the flag.

Mary: H2M, H2M single leg, Box Cutters, Pickle Pounders.
Announcements: Rune continues.  Bass Lake mulch project.
T-Claps (Recognition):

Our Nation, leaders.  Honor to lead men!

OG Fritter Foundation Co-Q at the Cobra

FNGs: Not today!

EC: 187, Cupid, Dumbo, Fanny Pack, Mookie, Pablo, Redenbacher

Warm Up: On our way to the Butcher’s Market we stopped for SSH, Good Morning, Daisy Pickers, Fazio Arm Circles

The Workout: Pablo and YHC talked the night before and Pablo said, “I’ll fill in what you don’t use” so YHC set out to take up half the time. It ended up taking 2/3 of the time…

Thang 1: 11’s at the Butchers Markets with Captain Thor (big boy sit ups and American Hammers IC – 1:2 ratio) on one end and Jack Webb’s on the other end (1:4 ratio). The PAX all stayed together.

Thang 2: Pablo let us in rounds of Balls to the Wall and People’s Chair. Three rounds of each with half the PAX doing that and the other half switching between Mtn Climbers, LBC and Freddy Mercury. After the initial 3 rounds we switched from Balls to the Wall to People’s Chair.

We moseyed back to the flag the long way to ensure we got our second whole mile (remember back when scoring for Rune only allowed for whole miles and 2 max at an AO?)

Mary: Pablo killed us with 6 minutes of increasingly difficult core exercises. YHC was so gassed he doesn’t remember them all. I know we did Freddy Mercury, Box Cutters, Homer to Marge and Pickle Pounders. Fathers Day isn’t too far off so start practicing now!

Announcements: Check the interwebs…

T-Claps (Recognition):

Prayer: Pablo’s Mom, Fanny Pack’s Daughter.

Promises and Threats

12 men and “mans best friend” posted up on a misty morning at Womble, DETERMINED to get stronger.  Beautiful sky with eerie clouds as YHC finished up the lone EC and the sun came up today. We…are so small! Throughout the workout, several quiet but notable moments took place as we made our way through this AO site that has so many options.

FNG’s: nope
Warm Up: It’s official… some pax think YHC’s voice is too loud for the neighbors. I’ve heard the mumbling gents… and might…lower the volume. SSH, GM’s, Sir Fazios F/R, Seal Claps, Overhead Claps.  All IC. Mosey to the other lot for Frankenstein’s.
The Workout: Think this May be some variation of “curb appeal” as Deadbolt mentioned that term twice during the Thang. Pax line up in parking spots. Wide Grip Merkins followed by bear crawl across, on to Irkins on the curb, into WW2’s, on to a lunge walk back.  Started with 5 count of exercises. Repeato each time going up to 10,15, 20 reps each exercise.  This was done with 25 LSF’s IC as an audible.

Indian Run- 2 Squads.

Groups Indian run opposite ways on the track til impact. At each impact point, YHC called some exercises. 30 squats, 20 merkins, 10 squat jumps, 5 burpees. So we did 4 rounds of this.

At some point, FloJoe disappeared to lose a little weight in newly opened facilities at the parks. Yogurt, like the Master he is, kept track and got FloJoe back to the rocks.

At the rocks, all pax chose carefully. Each pax calls an exercise for the group to do AMRAP whilst he runs a parking lot loop. Notably, POTS being the first to call burpees…leading the youngsters of the group to follow suit at some point.  POTS… way to be an example to them! Call out burpees=nobody likes you.  But we’re not here to be liked! Snap called bus drivers, but he’s fast… thank God!  FloJoe having lost 2 pounds during the facility trip found newfound creativity and called for Sweat Angels with Rock.  Just before finishing, Mookie turned to YHC and said, “ if you call burpees this last round I’m punching you in the face”. YHC obliged, called burpees, accepted the “poke the bear” challenge, and mentioned in departure for the loop, “I guess were fighting when I get back!”

Rocks finished, we moseyed back to the flag for Mary.  I mean, the rest of the pax moseyed…Mookie….ran….hard! He caught up with Sprinkler and two of them were in pretty full stride pushing each other to the end!  Way to challenge, poke, and push people to get better today Mookie!

Mary: Doc led Mary with some LSF’s, Boat/Canoes, and some LBC’s IC. Solid work all around. And in the words of Tetanus, “ that was a little bit of everything.”
Announcements: Sign up for the Rune. Doc is looking to some usual suspect pax at TBD to step up and join YHC as the new site Q’s.
T-Claps (Recognition): Mookie for challenging others to be better, stronger, faster.
Prayer: Keep yourself safe as you return to the new normal.  My daughter Julia.  Our Nation, our leaders, people who are sick or afraid.  God commands us not to be afraid, but we need His strength and others when it’s tough.

E-Ticket Rides at Disney

FNGs:  None

EC:  ShamWow!, Nemo and Full House

Showed up to Disney with three workouts planned in my head.  I wasn’t sure how many PAX would take my challenge after taking a picture of the abyss and posting it on the socials.  I wanted to make sure I had a plan for 3 PAX, <10 PAX or  >10 PAX.  It was a very long time since I had taken the 22 mins drive at o dark hundred in the morning.  I drove in silence doing a walk through in my head of the planned activities.   Planted the flag and greeted PAX I had not seen in 8 weeks.

Warm Up:  Nine PAX and a pooch took to the pitch after a mosey around it.  Completed SSH, Hillbillies, Good am, Seal Claps, Overhead Claps, Fazio Arm Circles, and static arm stretches.  The pitch was beautiful (flat, manicured) with temps  in the high fifties.

The Workout:  Mosey to the abyss.  Paired up for a Dora: 100 merkins, 200 LBCs, 300 SSH; hold squat/ completed squats and helped PAX finish their Dora.  Thanks for the assistance on the count of SSH Nemo – apologies for not clarifying single vs four count SSH.  Partner not doing Dora, ran/walked the stairs.  At the bottom of the stairs, PAX completed 5 Star jumps before starting back up.  Some PAX chose running up the dirt trail parallel to stairs.  Indian run back to pitch.  Nice sprints by Yogurt and POTS.

Mary: Lots of yoga.  Popcorn 10c AB work.

Announcements:  See Slack/FB

T-Claps (Recognition):  Special shout out to my Shield-lock brothers:  Masters for their support.

Prayer: YHC took us out.  Prayers for injured PAX, everyone struggling with pandemic, first responders, delivery drivers.  Honored to lead.

The Importance of Intentionality

EC: Cupid, Full House, Nemo, ShamWow!
FNGs: None, in spite of my best efforts to make one.
Warm Up: Mosey to GCF for warm-ups. Daisy Pickers ICx10, Imperial Walkers > Hillbilly ICx10, Fazio Arm Circles (both directions) ICx10, SSH ICx20
The Workout: Mosey to the bottom of the hill by Town Hall Burgers. PAX partnered up and it was now that I discovered a 13th PAX (@Oboe). He snuck in so quick and stealthy like that there were no punitive exercises. YHC knows the struggles of arriving on time all too well!!!

We did BOMBS with one partner running to the intersection and performing 5 star jumps before returning to switch with your partner. All reps are shared moving to the next exercise when one is done.

B – 50 burpees
O – 100 Overhead claps
M – 150 Mountain climbers IC
B – 200 Big boy sit ups
S – 250 Squats

PAX then mosey to the rail behind Jiffy Lube for 3 sets of 20 dips / low slow flutter with partners switching each time. Mosey back to the flag site (would have been a flag if YHC had remembered his)…
Mary: Homer to Marge ICx50
Announcements: Slack
T-Claps (Recognition):
Prayer: Wallaby, Bobby Dall’s sister, Full House uncle, healthcare workers. YHC took us out.

This morning I asked a series of 3 questions during the workout. First, what do you think is most important in your life? Next, where do you spend the majority of your time (pre-Covid-19)? And last, how do you spend your money (again, pre-Covid-19)? Make sure the answers to the last 2 questions support the first. It’s important that we are all intentional with our resources. Don’t coast through life men, find a problem and fix it. We are ALL counting on you!

Thanks for the opportunity to lead you men this morning. I’ll try to do better next time.

Avoiding Crop Dusters at TBD

ToBeDETERMINED reopened today with 9 pax plus a Poopeater ready to get after it! YHC and Doc collaborated to be sure we had a plan for both the workout and how to keep social distancing order among the Pax. After all, this is TBD, so YHC had 3 separate plans for work today and let the pax choose some options during warm-ups. POTS chose the number 25. Doc chose a hybrid workout (rather than running/no running), and hardy chose the track (rather than bandshell or tennis court). These choices led us to a BLIMPS workout. How’s that work??? Only YHC knows…

FNG’s: None

Warm Up: Good Mornings, Fazio Arm Circles, Frankenstein’s, Windmills, and Imperial Walkers. Mosey on over to the track.
The Workout: BLIMPS. Exercises and each of the four “corners” of the track as we successfully moseyed roughly 2.5 miles during the workout. Exercises were: 5 burpees each corner, 10 lunges IC each corner, 15 IWs IC each corner, 20 merkins each corner, 25 plank jacks, and 30 Squats each corner. YHC told various pax to call cadence on our travels and they did a fine job. Also learned an important rule…DO NOT follow Pikachu on the left…he may “crop dust” you!  Just sayin.

Groups did plank hold to wait for the six at the end…much to certain pax chagrin. Yogurt was very focused as it seemed to demonstrating a technique to Sprinkler at the last stop. A few calls of “take your time fellas” and it was back to the flag.
Mary: Only time for 20 Pickle Pounders IC
Announcements: We’re back baby!!!!
T-Claps (Recognition): Doc and his leadership as site Q showing me the ropes this week!
Prayer: Our leaders with important decisions to be announced Friday. Military and first responders. My daughter Julia, stomach virus last ten days….seems to be recovering.

So thankful… to lead, sweat, and mumblechatter alongside you mighty men!

We’re gonna need a birth certificate POTS….

SO EXCITED to be working on a Backblast… It was amazing to be back out, staking a Flag and being officially recognized as F3 in the gloom today!  I had a plan in mind, but like plans they are flexible. I decided early on that maybe we would do some homeschooling and see if PAX could help design our ending points along the way… I think it went well based on the grunts and modifications.

EC: Nemo, ShamWow!
