Toys at TBD

After the t-shirt offer from TBD site leadership YHC signed up for a few days throughout the year. Not an AO that I get to all that often but certainly a location that I’m intimently familiar with – there have been weeks that I’ve spent 5+ hours cumulatively at Womble Park.

With a race upcoming this weekend it was the perfect opportunity for a relatively low running, low leg impact workout. With a few toys in the car YHC made the load up early and tried (but failed) to not be late to the 0445 ECEC call with Fanny Pack. After 2 miles we picked up Abe, got it in on the standard EC route, and then they were nice enough to help me fight with setting up what would be the most popular toys – the gymnast rings. We made it back to the parking lot just in time for 0530 and to find Tetanus, Snap, and Bobby Boucher wondering where everyone else was. I opened the car back up to get some help with the 50 and 70lb kettlebells. We took a walk together back to the playground and we were set.

FNGs: None today in the Springs – lots in the Quay though!
Warm Up:

SSH x15 IC

Good Morning x10 on my down/up

Daisy Pickers on Fanny Pack’s cadence while YHC fought with a strap again

Squats x15

Sir Fazio Arm Circles x10 forwards/backwards

The Workout:

Pax circled up for the following stations (in this order):

  • 20x Pull Ups – this was the timekeeper
  • Kettlebell swings w/50lb bell
  • Squats on balance ball
  • Deadlift w/70lb bell
  • SSH

Atomic pushups (Merkins with hands on gymnast rings in straps, feet on ground, so as far down as you can) – it turned out that doing pull ups after these was challenging, so we swapped the order after our  break

We repeated for two total rounds and then took a lap around the soccer fields in a doomed attempt to see the smelly runners from across town. We stopped at the white fence for YHC’s version of typerwriters – start with feet on the lowest wrung for 8x Derkins, slide across and setup up a wrung for 6x derkins, slide back down and go to the top for 4x derkins, slide across for the last 2x derkins.

Mosey back to the playground for one more round on the stations.

  • Mosey over to the ampitheater for some work with the wall:
  • Preacher’s Chair x10 IC
  • Balls to the wall x15 IC
  • Preacher’s Chair x20 IC
  • Balls to the wall x25 IC

Mosey back to the playground for Mary
Mary:

Breakdancer x10 IC

Side plank tucks x6

Side plank raises x10

Yoga – tabletop, cat/cow, child’s pose, shoulder stretch child’s pose, puppy dog pose
Announcements:

Merkins or Jump Squats?

PAX: Bobby Boucher, Bondo, Abe, Yogurt, Fanny Pack, Tetanus, Snap, Norbert
Warm Up: Ran the long way to the far parking lot by Grigsby to do some SSH, GMs, windmills, Daisy Pickers, Frankensteins, Hillbillies, and Fazio arm circles.
The Workout: I was trying to figure out a more creative version of 7s last night and came up with the bad idea to see if it would be harder to do Merkins after bear crawls or jump squats after hopping so we gave it a try.  Yogurt marked off probably about 20-30 yards and we did a round of 7s, everyone seemed to think that jump squats were harder.  Maybe Merkins Squats next time?

The we moseyed over to the rock pile for curls, triceps, ground pounders, rut rows, boobity boobity, Midget cookie pouches and sever other rock exercises
Mary:  Finished up at the tennis courts with Mary that included WWIIs, LBCs (front and side), low slow flutter, shoulder taps, Homer to Marge, and pickle pounders.  Everyone seemed to have got their money’s worth…
Announcements:  Tetanus and his M have created some sweet staff T-shirts.  Anyone who Qs 3 workouts at TBD gets one!
T-Claps (Recognition): Norbert for putting in his first real workout (only Ultimate up until today)
Prayer: Fanny Pack’s M Courtney is still working through some health challenges, prayers for her

Another One Bites the Dust

Great crowd for a morning workout at To Be Determined. 9 determined PAX took care of business with the heart of the workout being a musical Dora. A variety of songs were chosen and when a song ended, the associated exercise ended and a new exercise was performed throughout the next song. As one of my favorites came on, Another One Bites the Dust (By Queen), I couldn’t help but think of those poor souls that could not overcome the fartsack this morning. For some, they didn’t hear their alarm clock go off and perhaps for others their MOPED ran out of gas.

FNGs: None

Warm Up: SSH X 20, Frankenstein X 10, Imperial Walker X10, deep groin stretch for a 10 count, SFA X10 clockwise and counter clockwise

The Workout: Started with an Indian run around the soccer fields and to the amphitheater. PAX counted off by 2, the ones completed 10 Catalina Winemixers while the Twos performed Balls tot he wall. Then switch. Next round the ones completed 20 merkins while the twos performed peoples chair. Rinse and repeat. Then mosey to the pavilion where we partnered up. YHC had some pre-selected jams and a portable speaker (played softly so as to not disturb the peace). Exercises at play were Derkins, Dips and monkey humpers. One partner did an evolution of man up the pavement (bear crawl, then lunge walk then sprint) while the other Pax did AMRAP. When the PAX returned, they switched. When the song ended, PAX moved onto the next exercise.  Then a mosey to the tennis courts for Mary.

Mary: Not much time left so we did LBC X20 and another LBC X10 with a 1o count hold on each crunch.

Announcements: LAR – Check slack for Skidmarks post about the upcoming Long Arse Run, 3rd meeting with some discussion about potential 2021 Shieldlock and some pax gave insights into their experiences with the previous Shieldlock which was good because we had a few PAX that are new to F3. Also check slack for some volunteer work at Holly Springs food cupboard.

Prayer: Fanny pack for taking a professional development journey with eyes on potentially being a principle one day

Your Doctor Must Not Do F3

A chilly morning that got warmed up in a hurry today at TBD. A certain PAX made an appearance in the Gloom today stating that he may have to modify, based on some doctor’s orders for a recently completed procedure. Technically, the care document he was given stated no physical exertion for 2 weeks, another PAX stated, “Well, your doctor must not do F3.” At times, F3 workouts, accountability, and brotherhood does make you feel superhuman. YHC was determined to pull out a few new exercise routines that I haven’t Q’d up before. However, YHC also vastly underestimated the amount of running to be completed at the workout in the pre-blast. Sorry fellas…please come see us at TBD again!

FNG’s: none
Warm Up: Everything x13. Good Morning’s, Frankensteins, Seal Claps, a quick mosey to the other parking lot, Overhead Claps, Sir Fazio’s (F/R), and Daisy Pickers.
The Workout: Here’s where I underestimated the distance and called a shorter run audible about midway through the routine. 11’s the long way in the parking lot. On one end, it was FoxHole Merkins (a WWI on the UP, a roll, and a hand release merkin on the UP…that’s 1.) The other end was Imperial Squat Walkers.

Next Up…we would do a Agility Ladder routine where YHC brought the fast feet ladder and some cones. Each PAX got a turn performing the routine of fast feet in and out in all squares of the ladder, followed by a quick side shuffle between cones, stopping at each one for an up/down. On each end, as PAX waited, we did Shoulder Taps IC and other other end we did LSF’s IC. We did this until all PAX got their turns in. PAX helped snatch up the toys and we moseyed over to the tennis court.

We assumed the People’s Chair position and waited until all PAX returned followed by a 10 count for all PAX. On to Jack Webbs 1/3 ratio. We started at 7 Merkins and counted down to 1. Final routine was about 70 seconds of continuous squats. Have a nice day!
Mary: Built into the routine.
Announcements: Monthly Fitness Challenge and channel on Slack…not too late to join and catch up!
T-Claps (Recognition): All the PAX for staying strong and no complaints despite false advertising by YHC.
Prayer: Continued recovery for my M and M of 187. Bondo stepped up to take us out.

Prayer: 187s wife Tracy and Fanny Pack’s wife Courtney as they prepare for upcoming surgeries.

Gotta Finish what you Start

Day before Thanksgiving… the goal was to “empty the tank” as Yogurt says in order to make room for the next day’s goodies. YHC tweaked his knee a few days ago, so I wasn’t sure what “empty the tank” would be. After running some EC, YHC decided he would be good to go with the original plan. The plan would consist of some meat and potatoes of what a TBD workout typically offers.

FNG’s: None
Warm Up: SSH x 60, 12 counts of Sir Fazio Arm Circles F/R, Hillbillies, Squat Seal Claps, bent over over head Claps, Good Mornings. Shoulder Taps x 40.

Balls to the Wall. Back for 15 burpees and then 30 ct. People’s Chair. Finished with 20 burpees and a mosey for 20 ct. Balls to the Wall. To the rock pile we go.  Next Thang was a rock pile exercise circle with all Pax taking turns calling 25 ct. exercises. During this time, 1 Pax would take off to do a circle around the large lot with a back peddle run, side shuffle, sprint, and Bear Crawl. Exercises were: Curls for the Girls 2 rounds, Shoulder Press, Rock Burpees, Squats, Toe touches, Tricep Press x 2, Wonderbras, Bus Drivers, Midget Cookie Pouch, American Hammers, Rock Merkins, Ground Pounders, Rut Rows.

Sitting around at TBD

FNGs: none
Warm Up: SSH x15, Windmills x10, Imperial Walkers x10, Hillbillies x10, Fozio Arm Circles x10 forward & 10 back, Seal Claps x10, Overhead Claps x10
The Workout: Mosied over to the Pit. PAX lined up at the bottom of the grassy hill and were instructed that we would be doing 11s. 1 squat in cadence at the bottom, 10 Durkins at the top. 2 squats in cadence at the bottom, 9 Durkins at the top. Continued until we were at 10 squats in cadence at the bottom, 1 Durkin at the top.
Hopped over the fence and did 10 Urkins and 10 dips. Mosied around to the front of the Hunt Center and held plank in the first parking spaces.
Next up was leapfrog Murkins. The PAX on the end would do 10 Murkins and then jog down to the next open parking space. Meanwhile, other Pax held plank. Continued on until everyone had a couple of rounds of Murkins. Mosied back to the home parking lot, where PAX grabbed a squat. Leapfrog squats at this parking lot. Same thing as before, but with squats in cadence this time. Did a couple of rounds of this and then mosied over to the concession area.
Urkins, Durkins and dips at the concession area, 10 each. YHC encountered a black widow, which was quickly dispatched. Watch those fingers! Mosied over to the rock pile.
PAX were instructed to get medium-sized rocks. We then did Curls for the Girls x20, overhead press x15, triceps x10. Dropped rocks, shook it out, rotated to rock to the right and repeat. YHC realized that my definition of “medium” and others may differ some. Ouch! Performed the same round as before, followed by a rotation. The last round was 10 each because, again, ouch! PAX returned the rocks and mosied to the picnic shelter.
PAX lined up for People’s Chair and did a 10 count each (for a total of 30, math!). Shook it out, resumed position and went for 15 each (45 total). Shook it out and went for 20 each (60 total). Around this time, one of the run clubs ran by and our good friend Brexit hollered out “Looks like you guys are just sitting around!” I think the appropriate return is “U wot mate?!” (Good to see you, Brexit!) PAX mosied back to the tennis courts for Mary.
Mary: YHC likes a good popcorn Mary. It gives the other PAX a chance to take a bit of leadership which, after all, is one of the goals of F3. It also helps YHC not have to think up a bunch of Mary exercises on his own. We did some WWIIs, Box Cutters, LBCs, Homer-to-Marge (with one leg raised), shoulder taps and Low Slow Flutters. YHC finished things off with a little bit of yoga.
Announcements: Half marathons coming up (both F3 and non). Breach’s TedTalk is 11/17 from 8:00-9:00pm. Check Slack for details and a link to the Zoom meeting.
T-Claps (Recognition): Dahmer for EC.
Prayer: Lots of PAX and their families going through health issues. Prayers for healing and peace.

Tour de Rocks at Womble

During my EC route prior to the ME at TBD, I noticed many rock pits throughout the park that I’ve never had the honor (or pain) of visiting. I knew I had pre-blasted a “hunt” or “field trip”, but someone integrated and somewhat scrapped that idea for a chance for all the posting PAX to take their turn at some lesser visited rock sites. 7 PAX posted at TBD to wear out the guns on the stones…and some other things.

FNG’s: No sir.
Warm Up: Good Mornings, Imperial Walkers, Hillbillies, Seal Claps, Willie Maze Haze.
The Workout: Moseyed to the tennis court for some short 7’s to get the gears greased. On one side we had standard merkins, on the other we had Mountain Climber’s IC. then, the tour de Rock began. We stopped at 6 different rock pits and performed the following exercises in total during our tour: 50 Curls for the Girls, 50 tricep press, 25 goblet squats, 40 shoulder press, 40 chest press, 40 rut-rows, 30 IC wonder-bras, 30 squats, 30 IC rock spanks, 40 IC Ground Pounders, 40 Rut-Rows, 20 IC LSF, 50 Chest Press, 25 tricep press, 25 curls for the girls, and…grabbing some small rocks to finish…one in each hand…we did 50 shoulder press, 25 lateral raise, and 25 front raises. Along the way, we stopped on the baseball deck for 40 irkins, 40 dips, 30 irkins, 30 dips…no irkins, much to the dismay of 187…but wait!

When finished with rocks, we went to the picnic shelter for 15 count dirkins, and a 40 ct. of People’s Chair before heading off to Mary. In the end, we got just a bit more than 1.6 miles in too.

Mary: 30 WW2’s, 15 LBC IC.
Announcements: Holly Springs Half…consider running, consider helping. Nov. 14th. Details will be on Slack.
T-Claps (Recognition): All the pax, for cumulatively moving quite a bit of weight today.
Prayer: For 187 and his M…continued peace and guidance through health issues. For our nation, schools, communities and the impact of COVID, elections, and unrest. We need direction from God in these times. Reach out to others who may be needy mental health wise. You never know the impact you can make! YHC took us out!
