AGS Mother’s Day “I have no idea where we are”

I was pleased to see @Coal Ash when I jogged up. HCs @Cupid and @U.T.I and @Bird Flu were there. Nice!
Warm Up: No EC’ers today, so at 6 am we took a quick jog around the parking lot and circled up. SSH’s x25 to continue jumpstarting the heart rate. Breathed through some GMs. Stretching OYO to hit whatever spots you need to hit before a run. You know where those are. Finally, a shout out to @Vasoline with 25-30 Merkins, OYO.

The Workout: Knowing that AGS was founded on sunrises around Bass Lake, I try to honor that tradition when I’m Q’ing (@Deadbolt @Mookie). Today was no exception. I explained the route: Across Womble, down Bass Lake Outfall Greenway, along this edge of lake, over to Salem Ridge, around the driving range, connect back to Stinson, on to Womble.

We took the fast route down the greenway. I knew we had no chance of a spectacular sunrise, only gloom, but we’re used to that, right? Maybe a little unexpected the first week of May though. Going down the greenway is super fast. I’ve always said, run fast where you can, and this is one of those places.

Along the way, we made connections. Cupid the flu vaccine plant employee caught with Bird Flu, the bird flu expert who is working to contain the bird flu itself. Coal Ash, UTI, and myself caught up with work and employment.

We dialed back the pace after reaching Bass Lake, because that early fast pace wasn’t paying off for all of us. We headed up Salem Ridge towards Linksland. Someone suggested that we do something in @Pikachu’s yard, but we declined. I would love to work in some of the loops in SSL, but from Womble that would put us over 6 miles and there’s just not time. On the back half of the run, we caught up on mothers and Mother’s Day plans.

We took Gable Ridge back towards Bass Lake Road. Over to Norwalk. “I have no idea where we are,” declared @Coal Ash. Bam, we arrived at Bass Lake Road and the lights came on! From there, it was an easy jog on Stinson back to Womble. Perfect, 5.45 miles and 7 am. COT, photo op with YHC and @Coal Ash stylin’ the same colors. I even turned my hat backwards.

Mary: None

Announcements and T-Claps (Recognition): Appreciation to everyone who contributed the very successful 3-Alarm Root Beer Float Mile. @Bird Flu really led the way, buying root beer and ice cream early on. Then, posting the pre-blast. @Wild Turkey was solid too, as usual. He set up the root beer and awards table and mapped up and set up the root beer course as well. Thanks to all who posted. Plus, we had enough money from our collection to make a significant contribution to the iPad 3-Alarm received for his birthday.

UTI previewed the June challenge. Largely modeled off the 2021 May challenge, but with improvements. Not to be confused with previous “Rune” run challenges in June.

Prayer: Remember your mother and be grateful. Strength to those who may not be having children. Keep all PAX healthy and strong.

Coupon Clipping at Thunder

FNGs:  None but a Welcome Back Kotter – Lipsync (running) stopped by to add to
Warm Up:  So excited to see 10 PAX (Crosby joined later) for the warm-up.  SSH, Seal Claps, O/H claps, Sir Fazios (F+B), Frankensteins
The Workout:  PAX helped me bring dumbbells and kettlebells to the covered picnic tables.  The idea was simple:  grab something, do as many reps as possible of an exercise with a coupon until the timer is done.  What was our timer?  Rather – who?  One pax ran to the playground and hung out for 30 seconds or knocked out 5-10 pull-ups and ran back to shelter.  ROTATE.  Special thanks for John Deere and Cancun for bringing their (wicked heavy) ruck sacks and Gump for setting up a TRX band.  Exercises included, curls for the girls, flies, lawnmowers, overhead press, tricep curls, swings, cross arm curls, etc.  YHC tried spicing things up with a poorly executed Indian run with a kettlebell around the pitch.  Disaster.  Got things straightened out after pausing for some plank jacks along the way.  Returned to the shelter for some people’s chair and BTTW.  YHC led 10c, 15c and 20c rinse and repeats.  Finished with more work with the coupons using a 30 cc LBC Pax timer.  All 11 pax rotated through.
Mary:  Stretching.  Mumble chatter. R-rated.
Announcements:  Couch to 5K at Cletus.
T-Claps (Recognition):
Prayer:  Gump led us out –  injured PAX, UNSPOKEN.

2nd F at Tapline. Meatballs and Beer.

Honored to lead.  -Dauber

President’s Day 2022 – Which President is on the $100 Bill? Fanny knew the answer.

Warm up: Bat Wings: Fozio Arm Circles 10x forward/reverse, 10x seal claps, 10x overhead claps; repeat

Mosey to lower corner of parking deck near tower stairs. First trivia question: Which president is on the $100 bill? Fanny Pack knew: None. Benjamin Franklin was never president.

Benjamin Franklins ($100). Partner up. One partner goes to top of stairs and back while other does SSH. Shooting for 100. With required two trips per PAX to the top, most pairs far exceeded 100. Al Gore (Vice President) while we wait for the six.

Mosey around the entire building to the top corner of the upper parking deck. One each corner, I marked a pain station with a cone and printout of four denominations of currency: $5, $10, $20, $50. We kept partners for “accountability” only. We raced station to station, with the first PAX to arrive announcing the exercise that he had found.

I asked trivia question at each station. I planned for the winner to keep the printed “bills.” But, then I lost track of who won what. I was close at the end. Winners: Fanny Pack, Cornholio, Bondo, U.T.I., and Full House (see below).

$5 Lincolns: 5 burpees OYO. Where is our very own @Abe when you need him?

$10 Alexander Hamilton: 10 star jumps. Who is on the $10 bill? Even with the printout, it took a while to get this one? And was Alexander Hamilton ever president? No! Cornholio got this one. How did Hamilton die? Lost to Aaron Burr in a dual. Yes, a dual.

$20 Andrew Jackson. 20 Merkins.

$50 Ulysses S. Grant. 50 Mountain climbers. Was Grant ever president? Yes.

Mary: Bobby Boucher got it started with some low slow flutter while I grabbed my phone. I immediately went to Pickle pounders. An obvious shout out to President Bill Clinton. And you should have heard @Full House’s imitation: “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.” Hilarious!

Announcements: Wilmington Marathon this weekend.

Prayer Requests: Unspoken. YHC took us out.

Happy Presidents Day. Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Hand drawn vector portraits isolated on white background.

Little Bit of Everything

YHC took the helm of the Downtown Train on a rainy, cold morning. The plan was to travel a good amount…so we did!

FNG’s: Welcome aboard Bird Flu!!!
Warm Up: Did some SSH and some Good Mornings. Went on a mosey down to the pool! We did Imperial Walkers and Hillbillies.
The Workout: Jack Squats ladder. 1 Squat = 3 squat jumps…we did that up to 5, then went back down. Headed over to Library Hill for some BOMBS! Partner up and run opposite directions on the hill, turn around and meet up for: 10 burpees, 15 Overhead Clap IC, 20 Merkins, 25 BB Sit Ups, 30 Squats. Went up and bear crawled 1 traffic circle, followed by lunge walk on the next. Mosey over to grab rocks and went to the barber shop. We did a series of 5 ct. per PAX People’s Chair, then bear crawled out to rock for a 15 ct. rock exercise. We did 15 x 2 of: WonderBra, Curls for the Girls, Rut-Row, Tricep Press…each time bear crawling back to the wall for more People’s Chair.
Mary: We returned rocks and moseyed to the garage for Mary with rain falling harder. We finished with a 1:3 Jack Webbs up to 5.
Announcements: Long Ass Run Saturday, details from Skidmark.
T-Claps (Recognition): Great to see Brexit again…and … welcome FNG BirdFlu.
Prayer: Folks with COVID, Hasselhoff’s parents. YHC took us out. An honor to lead boys!
