The Last Sunday

EC: Peeping Tom misunderstood the start time and got there a little early so he made lemonade, putting 2.5 miles on the board before we got started.  Nice work!

Warm Up: 5x Burpees (We had some folks show up a little late) and 20x Side Straddle Hops

The Workout:  We had two distance groups, one went for a 3 mile loop and the other a 6 mile loop.  We stuck together for the first 1.5 miles when Oyster and Lift Kit peeled off down Bass Lake Rd.  Peeping Tom and Nemo got out ahead of the 6 milers and inadvertently created a third group when they made a wrong turn.  Much like the Disney movie we found Nemo (and Peeping Tom) in then end.  (There is some sort of plot twist in here about Peeping Tom running off with Nemo… I’ll leave it alone… moving on!).  The planned 6 mile route was made to avoid the mud at Sugg and Bass Lake but YHC couldn’t resist the opportunity to catch that sunrise that Mookie hyped-up when passing over the reigns.  Fortunately, the mud was pretty tame and not much of an ordeal.  Unfortunately the weather this morning was cloudy and overcast so there was no sunrise to be seen.  Oh well, we went around the back entrance at Bass Lake, going down the hill and circling back to the greenway.  Through the Somerset Stream neighborhood and on through Womble.

There were modifications and circling back for the 6 all along the route so we all ended up with variations between 3 and 9 miles.  We had great support from Messi as he biked the 6 mile route with us.  Circling back and checking in on everyone.

COT
Thought for the day: With so many distractions, it’s easy to just go with the flow and forget to think. 1 Peter says to always be ready to give a reason for the hope in you. Do you know what you believe and why? If not, it’s harder to make a difference in others lives. We are dedicated to improving our bodies since we all show up to these things, but the mind shouldn’t be left it off our improvement efforts either.
1. Work at Wolfie’s house
2. Upcoming Carpex Q switch week
3. Prayers for a teacher at Herbert Akins (acquaintance of Beater’s wife) who lost her husband to cancer this week.

Git your motor runnin’… Head out on the highway…

Privilege to lead you fellas out there today. Great to see Crab Legs and all in the gloom and second F…

You’ll want to CRANK UP the link below!

Warm Up: Imperial walkers, hillbillies, good mornings. Revved up our engines with some Red Bull Smurf Jacks (SSH from squat position, 3x speed cadence x20). That will crank your tractor, or whatever you got! Mosey to greenway at Grigsby Avenue. More warmups of Fozzio? arm circles (still don’t know if its Fozie/Fozzio/Fonzie?), Moroccan night clubs, stretches.
The Workout: Two Indian run-type workout formations. 1. PAX planks up head to toe with heads uphill. Last PAX runs to front, yells “Down,” entire PAX does one Merkin, repeat until each PAX has run twice. Lots of groaning while holding plank for so long with 28 Merkins mixed in! 2. Good ol’ Guantanimos, again with each PAX running the line twice.

Headed out on the highway (Grigsby Avenue), Lookin’ for adventure. Failed attempt at 2-line Indian run. Lesson: Don’t make PAX THINK in the morning, just let them DO. Found adventure in Park Avenue subdivision–yes Park Avenue. Perfect 1/3 mile block for the Burpee mile: 3 stations of 6 burpees x 3 laps. That’s 54 burpees. Lots of different paces, of course. Thanks to Lucky, Double D, and others for picking up the 6.
Mary: Crunchy Frogs x10
Announcements: $50 for HS Half until Jan 1, when price goes up. UTurn Saturday minimum 5 miles. Hill run at Sugg organized by Boy George.
Prayer: Our brother Crab Legs, who posted today. Double D’s dad, Moby’s wife who’s expecting a little Moby any day now, Noah’s Ark after shoulder surgery, Ausfart, others I’m sure…

Jack Bells

Pax of 5 gathered for a promised co-Q beatdown by Pikachu and Skidmark. 3 pax came from Crazy Time and after some mumble chatter we were off at 0530 as scheduled.

Warm Up:

SSH x15 IC

Daisy Pickers x10 IC

Windmill x10 IC

The Workout:

Pax gathered at end of parking lot with their kettle bell. On the grass x2 Turkish Getups on each arm and then we started our latter:

Walk to 1st parking lot line – x10 Kettle Bell swings

Back to grass for x2 Turkish Getups per arm. Repeato swings at 1st line, then go to 2nd line for 5x Man-O-Makers per side.

Getups are performed each time a new line is added, and all preceding lines are always done. Exercises for subsequent lines were:

3rd Line – 10x Deadlifts

4th Line – x10 LBCs w/Kettle Bell held over chest

5th Line – x10 Sit ups w/Kettle Bell held over chest and rotated to be overhead at top of situp (dubbed the Vietnam)

Getups were repeated one more time for good measure, and then YHC handed things over to Skidmark.

Skidmark led us in Jack Webbs – 1:3 Merkin to Overhead Press w/Kettle Bell ratio from 1:3 -> 10:30, with “recovery” runs in between down to parking lot median.
Mary:

After we (thankfully) finished Jack Webbs we circled up. After the Pax (other than Pikachu) failed to guess Skidmark’s favorite “Mary” exercise we were punished with performing it – the Merkin Clock. With stops at 12, 9, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 we were sufficiently gassed.

Nemo’s Last Stand

14 months as Disney Site Q came to an end on a perfect late Dec morning with a true baker’s dozen and a strong showing of 8 on EC.  It’s been an honor to be on Q and I appreciate all the #HIM who supported me, put in the work, and stepped up top lead.  I look forward to guest Q’ing sites around South Wake in 2019.

Warm Up: Regular jog around fields, circle up for variety of standard exercises. On the jog to circle up again beyond the half pipe and we did a burnout of Fazio Arm Circles.
The Workout: On the jog to the lower lot we set up on the benches for sets as follows, all on the 15 IC or cadence: tempo dips, plank hold, shoulder taps, low slow flutter, SSH. Set up for Indian Run all the way to The Abyss – keeping it clean and in line, with the exception of a drop out to make a special visit to the woods. Set up in 2 groups for spacing.  Stayed with the groups and at the top we did 10 squat star jumps, at the bottom 15 merkins. 5 rounds total. On the jog back to the start.
Mary: Quick 3 rounds of LBCs, Homer to Marge and Pickle Pounders
Announcements: Lots of new activity in 2019 – Post challenge, breathtaker, Q swap, 3rd F Q Source, new HS race this spring 8k and 16k
Prayer: Ausphart (who was named at Disney) in his recovery, Double D and his family, Crablegs, silent 10 count for unspoken and YHC took us out

2019 Post Challenge

Pax:

As mentioned this morning at the Disney COT – we are going to be having a post challenge for 2019.  Many of you know that F3 nationwide has a annual challenge of making 250 posts in a calendar year.  We are going to do this in Southwake with several different goal varieties.  I have developed a tracking spreadsheet for those that want to (1) take the challenge and (2) use a tracking sheet.  You are certainly welcome to use whatever method you want or already have.

In Southwake, we will have options for those that want to go for 150, 175, 200 or 250 posts.  I have set up a tracking google spreadsheet available at the following link:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1JUqFPX36Q3Y6C0ho_eZAr-3rrFPlXmyc?usp=sharing

It’s pretty self explanatory and instructions are provided in the headers of each sheet.  A sheet is dedicated to each goal (150-250 posts).  See below for a quick “quick start guide”

lets all get after it in 2019 and make this year our bitch
