Trick-or-Treat Mutiny

NOTE: Excuse me….posting late for 10/31/2022 Mutiny. Crazy work week.

FNGs: None

EC: Breach (in his Orange skeleton costume) and YHC (in my Fuquay Mafia get-up) ran 1.5 miles after first plotting some mischief.

Warm Up: Slide Straddles, Good Mornings, Imperials, Hillbillies, Sir Fazio Arm Circles, Seal Claps, 5 burpees for a Warbucks late arrival

The Workout: For the Trick portion, YHC asked each PAX to walk bravely into the woods to find a piece of candy. Warbucks, being late to the AO and looking especially tired, was chosen as the 1st PAX to brave the woods. Unbeknownst to Warbucks, there was an orange skeleton :skull: (that looked a lot like Breach) waiting in those woods just to put the fear of God into him! Warbucks’ response was a instant Mutiny Classic and gave us all a good laugh before the remaining PAX had to brave the woods as well (with less risk of skeleton attacks). While each PAX went into the woods, the rest of us did some Merkins and squats. Once out of the woods, we’d run over to some tables for step-ups and dips before heading back over to the woods.
Treat time was a fun game of catch and throw with the football. PAX were asked to run long for a big throw. Candy for catches, burpees for drops, curls for the girls and big boy sit-ups no matter what… we did a lot of burpees!

Mary:with little time left, we did low slow flutters until our time was up and body exhausted.

Announcements: None

Prayer: unspoken prayers and thankfulness

No Frills Mutinizing to start the week

Warm Up:   FRAM and Sunshine for EC.  SSH, Good morning, Daisy pickers, Hillbillies, Sir Fazio, Seal claps

The Workout:  Had I consulted my calendar, which had me running 22 miles just two days ago, I wouldn’t have signed up to Q today.  But I didn’t, so I did.

Then in a very adult manner of dealing with life, I tried to ignore it, hoping it would go away, so I could get another day of rest.  But it didn’t, so I couldn’t.

So, up & at ’em.  Having only a vague template in my head of what to do, I, as Sprinkler so succinctly foretold “bullshitted my way through this workout”, and it formed into this:

7’s on the “hill” of burpees and squats.  That was it for legs.  After that we just ran around in a disorderly pattern, making periodic stops for sets of non-leg exercises.   Dips on the picnic tables, WWIIs, merkins, balls to the wall, Carolina Dry Docks.

We got in at least three sets of each (I think), with variations of merkins (derkins on the bleachers, diamond & wide grip) and dips (alternating raised leg), but did get 4 sets of WWIIs just because I decided to hit 100 reps for some reason.

Mary:  A P90X favorite, Downward Dog Crunches (DD position, raise right leg, swing it to touch right elbow for 4 count, return.  Raise right leg, swing it to forehead for 4 count, return, then swing right leg to left elbow for 4 count – repeat other leg).  Then we did some kind of toe touch things until time expired.  Good stuff.

Prayers:  Fire Chief Tony, battling stomach cancer; FRAM’s coworker Mike, in a car accident.

Announcements: T-Claps (Recognition): Prayer:

Things got done and so did this backblast!

FNGs: nope

Warm Up: Good Mornings, Bounce, neck rotations, spinal rotations, foot traces, hinge stretch, windmill. Finish with a lap around the block to get the HR up.

The Workout: Find a partner with a similar sized bell! Partner 1 would either run the stairs or farmer carry their bell to the end of the deck and back. This differed between the 9 exercises below. 3 times we would pause the exercises and partner 1 takes the stairs while partner 2 farmer carries both bells and then we switch and repeat.

Exercises –

  • clean and press (stairs)
  • swings (farmers carry)
  • single leg dead lift (stairs)
  • ballistic row (stairs)
  • off set pushup (farmers carry)
  • Midge cookie pouch (stairs)
  • nipplers (stairs)
  • goblet squat (farmers carry)
  • floor press (stairs)
  • Mary: American Hammer ICx10, Homer to Marge IC x 20, Low Slow Flutter IC x 20. All were done with bell.

    Announcements: Picnic (see slack)

    Charmander, the lizard Pokemon

After moving back a week in the Q schedule for Crazy Ivan to support Steamboat’s V Q YHC found himself with three Qs in one week. It lined up close enough to Pokemon’s 25 year anniversary so it only made sense to coordinate the workouts around the original three starters.

Today’s workout celebrated Charmander, the Lizard Pokemon. Charmander is easily the most popular of the original three starters and is the one that YHC likes the least. Therefore there were no Charmander references during the workout – this guy has had enough love over the years, trust me.

Word was received the day before that CarPex was going to arrive in force as they were considering starting a steel mace workout. YHC made sure that we hit the highlight tour of exercises for them to learn from – was great to have the company (even if it did come with an excessive amount of mumble chatter – that’s what burpees are for!).

    FNGs:

None today – would’ve been great, we could have named them after a Pokemon.
    Warm Up:

    SSH x20

Hips in a barrel x5 each direction

Burpees x5 – the mumble chatter was already over the top

    Good morning x11 IC

Still too much chit chat so we grabbed our maces and moseyed to the top of the deck

    The Workout:

We moseyed to just past the entrance to the upper deck and circled up for a demonstration of the death march. We then performed 1 in cadence.

Moseying the short distance across the deck pax were given a demonstration of the 360. We then did 10 on YHC’s swing.

We gravediggered back to where we started up top for 2 death marches. Mosey back to the other side for 9 360s – Dawgpound figured out what we were doing. Repeato for 11s all the way through.

After finishing the 11s we moseyed back down to the bottom level. Circling up at start YHC demonstrated the ballistic curl – we did 10 and then moseyed halfway down the deck. There we demonstrated the mace deadlift – two legged first then one legged. 1 IC and then a new exercise – we bunny hopped with the mace back to the start. 9 ballistic curls kept our 11s going. Getting short on time we dropped the mosey/bunny hop and did our 11s stationary after the 5 / 6 set.

In the circle pax were instructed to hold their mace vertically overhead. After taking a knee, putting a hand down, and swinging the leg through they realized they were getting a very detailed Turkish Getup demonstration. Following the one getup we performed 5x Side Plank tucks – these were supposed to be the star of another set of 11s but 10 of those wasn’t going to happen and the clock was not being kind at this point. We did another Turkish Getup on the other side followed by 5 more side plank tucks and we moved onto mary.

We grabbed some call for preacher’s chair with the mace out front horizontally – 10x IC was followed by 10x Homer to Marge IC two legged then 10x IC one legged. We repeated all of those again on the other side.

    Mary:

    American hammer w/mace – 20x IC

    Freddie Mercury x10 IC

Yoga – downward dog, knee down crescent lunge, pigeon pose

    Crazy Ivan

Had a hard time coming up with a title because the mumble chatter was so minimal this morning. Nice group this morning that worked out and hopefully got the most out of the workout. Workout was no running friendly.

    FNGs: None
Warm Up: Fazio Arm Circles, Imperial Squats, Hillbillies, SSH. Practiced the three moves that would be used for part of the main event.
The Workout: 45 seconds on/15 seconds rest. Start with 4 reps of each. If you completed the exercises in 35 seconds, add two reps to each. If you didn’t make it in 45 seconds subtract 2 reps from each. Stay with the same reps if you complete the exercise between 35 and 45 seconds. Did this f0r 20 rounds with the following exercises: One arm kettle bell swings, squats, kettlebell snatch burpees.

After 20 minutes move to the wall for one set of Balls to wall and preacher chair with all pax doing 10 count. Added a 20lb kettlebell because no brought anything smaller. In preacher chair pax passed the kettlebell from hand to hand with arm extended. Went down the row and back. Then tried it with balls to the wall :/      Safety First of course.

Circle back up with a round of “Jump” by Van Halen. Squat hold and star jump on the jumps.

Mary: 6 minutes of Plank hold with varying exercises. Finish with have a nice day.

Pre- Halloween Revelry with a Heavy Friend

The heavy music was turned up loud, we went “trick or treating” a couple times, burpees were avoided, kettlebells were clanged, and a heavy friend (coupon) joined in the Halloween Hooliganry at the Underworld for Crazy Ivan. 10 PAX played along with YHC’s game of chance for their pre-Halloween beatdown.

    FNG’s: none
Warm Up: SSH x 15, the 10 counts of Seal Claps, Overhead Claps, Good Mornings, and Daisy Pickers.
The Workout: The workout was simple. YHC brought a bucket of tickets, each with a different classic favorite Halloween candy pic on it. Each pic corresponded to a kettlebell exercise that was to be done AMRAP by the men while 1 pax (the timer) carried the pumpkin themed heavy friend (a 75 lb. cement ball skillfully crafted by Dahmer) down to a parked car and back. Repeato on this sequence a lot!

Exercises were: Reese’s – Horn Squats, Snickers – Bell Merkins, Skittles – Single Arm Shoulder Press, Twizzlers – Figure 8’s, Milky Way – Halos, Baby Ruth – Swings.

One caveat…YHC placed a few “trick or treat” tixx in the bucket. When drawn, the whole pax would travel a bit for short exercises. YHC put 3 such tixx in the bucket…2 were drawn during our time together. When they were drawn…we ran down to do a 30 ct. BTTW. Then next one was about halfway through the workout as we travelled up top to typewriter the parking curbs as a group before returning to the Underworld. As Halloween fortune would have it, the PAX never drew the 3rd “trick or treat” ticket…that would have cost us a short mosey, but 30 burpees. At the end of the workout, there were only 3 tixx left in the bucket that we didn’t get to. Lucky day before Halloween!

Mary: 20 Midget Cookie Pouches, 20 LSF IC. Have a nice day!
Announcements: Holly Springs virtual F3 half coming up…consider running or volunteering at aid station. More info to come this week! Mutiny moves to TING Monday for Ultimate under the lights! No metal cleats. Paradise City pax will still workout at TING that day…plenty on room on the turf for a change!
T-Claps (Recognition): Dahmer for his work on a new coupon for Crazy Ivan.
Prayer: Our brothers Shamwow!/187 and their M’s for some recent health issues they are dealing with. Kool aid just moved to area and his family settling in. Chaps stepped up to take us out. Thanks for playing fellas!

Crazy Ivan & 27 Years of Bliss

    FNGs: None
Warm Up:  Saw that Crazy Ivan was open on the Q sheet and ventured back to an ol’ friend.  Pre-blast mentioned heavy weights, kettle bells, running and the number 27.  My wife an I were celebrating our anniversary. More to come.  30 SSH, 10 Sir fazios, 10 OH claps, 10 seal claps, windmills, good am and 7 burpees OYO; mosey through bottom parking deck to the chagrin of Pumpkin Spice.
The Workout: PAX partnered up.  One PAX farmer carried two 50lb dumbbells (complements of Popinski) and walked 27 steps.  PAX dropped bells and ran back to his partner requesting help (similar things happen with our spouses, e.g. car breaks down, flat tire, etc). While the farmer’s carry was happening, Other PAX were engaged in 10-27 count exercises that included swings, tricep curls, upward rows, halos, figure 8s, lawn mowers, ground pounders, bend over squats.  Once everyone had a chance to Farmer Cary, YHC threw out a trip to the store for some milk.  One PAX of the two-man team ran up & down the stairs and then around the building.  More kettlebell exercises including plank slaps, soccer bells, squats, etc.  Emeril and Dawgpound helped out lead exercises when YHC Was taking a trip to the store.  Balls to the walls for a 27 count followed by 4 quick burpees OYO.  I asked the PAX if they got eggs at the store.  Nope.  We all have heard that before, right?  Back to the store running around the building.  During the workout, I asked each PAX to learn three things about his wife/girlfriend. (exception with Hardy).  Their new info would be shared later.  From our six, we did more kettlebells including nipplers, straight arm curls and 6 inches.  Midget love handles, upright rows, and overhead from our knees.

Mary:  held various plank and Superman positions learning three things new about each PAX member’s wife/girlfriend.  YHC shared some marital bliss thoughts/input with FloJo adding to my soapbox.  Finished with some stretching over good mumble chatter about working at your marriage.  Love language book.  Great read.  Communication a must.

Announcements:  HS Food Pantry/Cupboard workday; Ruck to Mama’s

T-Claps (Recognition):  celebrating 27 years of marriage – thank you God

Prayer: YHC took us out.  PAX And PAX’s spouse looking for employment; those impacted by COVID-19; UNSPOKEN.
