10 PAX got Stronger at Any Given Sunday- No Headlamps, No Problem…Let Elevation Be Your Guide

The countdown is on…8 weeks to HSHM and 10 #HIM put in some quality miles at AGS. YHC and Midget arrived at 5:30am and were quickly joined by Slide Rule for an EC run to the Library. Having missed ASG last week and U-Turn due to the HS Police 10K, YHC was in need of some speed up Library Hill. As we approached the midway point to the Stop sign summit, Slide Rule unaware of the need for speed, inquired if we were in a hurry this morning. The reply was “No, but sometimes you have to let this Hill know who is boss.” At which point, 3 PAX were seen making an aggressive pace back to the top and onto Main Street. PAX continued to Womble where Slide Rule and Midget broke off toward the baseball fields en route to an additional mile, while YHC proceeded for an extra half around the soccer fields. Three quarters around the soccer fields, YHC was met by the trio of Pikachu, Dusty, and Farva on a warm up run heading in the opposite direction, and decided to join them back around to the parking lot.

Several additional PAX made their way in for some main event miles, including Forceps, Deadbolt, Kid Cracker, and Yogurt

Warm Up: Quick jog to end of parking lot, with butt kickers back to the point of origin. Skips half way down to the end of the parking lot, followed by Frankstein’s to slow down Pikachu, who looked like he was attached to a pogo stick on the skips. Carioca back L\R to the point of origin. Circled up for Imperial Walkers x10\Hillbillies x10\Hacky Sacks x10 IC, Figure Four Leg stretches x10, Fazio Arm Circles 10F\10B,  Michael Phelps.

The Workout: 6 mi Scout Run to the greenway and counter clockwise around Bass Lake. YHC flirted with the idea of coming out the back way of Sugg Farm instead of back through the greenway, but given that the ground is still drying out, decided to keep on the pavement. PAX exited Bass Lake via the green way and back onto Teal Lake. We’ll save that route for another run.

From start to finish of the run, PAX were treated to some really cool phenomena in the sky. As we made our way out of Womble on the initial mile, Slide Rule pointed out that the moon was surrounded by a white visible circle. Something I haven’t seen before.  As we progressed on the run, each PAX that had circled back to pick up the six, noted the need to dust off the headlamps as darkness was extending later on these 6am runs. As we got onto the Bass Lake Trail and half way around, YHC and Deadbolt had the faint glow of Midget’s sneakers to keep us on the path. As we proceeded, we were starting to lose our way and Deadbolt prophetically stated that “if we are elevating, we are on the right path.” So true it was as Midget stopped for a period of time toward the top of the Hill, long enough to see his magic shoes and then were quickly met by Yogurt and Pikachu, who were on point picking up the six. As we ascended down and then proceeded back around to the canoes, YHC took a few pictures to commemorate what was one of the coolest pre-sunrise snaps in quite a few weeks. The water was like glass and perfectly transposed a mirror image of what was happening in the sky onto Bass Lake. As we made way out of the greenway, PAX were met again by Pikachu and Yogurt, who pulled the six onto Eno Drive and invoked a strong sprint amongst several PAX up Teal Lake Dr. PAX finished up the final leg back to Womble and circled up for COT.

Warm up now means burpees

It was a week of transitions for F3 AOs and Thunder was the latest as Pikachu and Buttjoint turned the AO over to Crosby and John Deere. It won’t get easier, you’ll just get stronger. 8 men posted to send Buttjoint out in style and Buttjoint delivered. Now if he could post in the gloom again. If you’ve never posted at Thunder give it a shot. Love how this workout has a completely different feel compared to the gloom.

Mosey to tennis courts. Stay with partner. One partner is doing suicides and the other is doing Al Gore Tree Huggers. Rinse and Repeat.

Mary: I’m pretty sure there were some diamond merkins in here somewhere. 3 count around the circle under the pavillion as we were kicked off the court due to lightning. Not because we placed our balls on the fence or that there was a giant sign that said courts closed.

Warm Up: Jogged around the starting lot and circled up on the other side of the half pipe.  SSH, Fazio Arm Circles, Moroccan Night Clubs, Good Mornings.  Jogged over to next lot for SSH and arm stretches.  YHC was so tired from a really long day and late night that one count somehow only went to 9, but we kept moving.

Singing in the John

Warm Up: Butt Kickers, Skipping, High Knees, Carioca

The Workout: The now typical 4.7 mile route was taken

Turning right once we left Ting and went straight down Main/55.  We had some folks returning for the 6 and continuing on past town Hall, turning back for Ting just with a left after the Car Wash.  The bonus Port-o-John seemed to be alive with music.  We soon realized it was just Lipstick taking his post in one of the many Johns on the route.  Dude likes to sing, so naturally…  shaking that off, we followed the return route of the Holly Springs Half Marathon all of the way back to Ting.  There were some slight modifications near the end following a reverse of the typical Paradise City EC route.  Extra miles, extra hills, extra FUN!!!  4.7+ miles of it!!!

Mary:  We just ran 4.7+ miles…  on to COT

Announcements: Quiet crew this morning on the announcement front.

Prayer: Lipsticks brothers Mother-in-law has stopped treatment for her cancer.  The prognosis is days and he has asked for prayers for her and her family in these final days.

Passing on Possum Trot’s torch

With life comes constant change and this day was no different in that it was one in which YHC knew his time had came to pass on the torch on his last day as Possum Trot’s site Q. What an incredible journey and privilege it’s been over the last year. Always excited on my arrival to see a handful of HIM standing around in a circle of mumble chatter. Planted the shovel flag, fist bumped, and before we knew it we were off on the mosey!

Warm Up: Ran out of the park across the road to the front lit side of the storage facility for a round of Good Mornings, Cotton Pickers, squatted Moroccan Night Clubs, squatted T-claps, IW, Hillbillies, and Merkins. IC x 10 each

The Workout: Mosey over to the guard rails and split pax with 6 on one side and 7 on the other for 3 descending rounds of Irkins, Derkins, & Reverse Dips x 15, 10, 5 with each side bear crawling / crab walking over to opposite guard rail for next set of the above. 5 Burpees OYO then mosey out of parking lot toward Old Varina. Stopped off at one of the short brick retaining walls for who knows how many step ups and downs until YHC was tired of the same! Mosey across the street for a BTW hold for each Pax to bear crawl under the line. Mosey over to the old Stevens Hardware entrance for a few rounds of partnered up Typewriters while partner completed squatted star jumps, merkins, LBC’s. Back out to parking lot for 11’s with bear crawls across lot of Burpees / Merkins. This quickly turned into 7’s, then 3’s due to time constraints and the time Dauber would need to make a presentation. YHC suggested since it was my last day leading as site Q that we all bear crawl back to Action Park!

Mary: Circled up for quick count off and YHC called for Pax numbers 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 to lead us in a 10 count standing exercise for Mary. The Natural led us in Goofballs, followed by LED w/Prisoner squats, Modify w/SSH, Messi w/standing WWII’s, Fedex w/Windmills. YHC then shared that he did this for a specific reason to show future Q’s that Mary doesn’t have to be on your six or even ab exercise if he so chooses. Mix it up and lead as you are led to.

COT: YHC called out Doc to share about what F3 means to him, how he got involved, etc. and then turned over the reigns to the next site Q Dauber to make his presentation. What an incredible idea he presented to pay it forward with a gift to all upcoming RESPECT pax when they turn 50 yrs. old. Gump was presented with a gift from Dauber of a Road ID bracelet along with how much Gump means to all of us as he’s such an encouragement. His 50th will be on Monday 9-30-18 and we all sang Happy Birthday to him. Name-a-rama.
