If I had known we would stop early, I would have done more squats…

It’s been a few weeks since I took the helm at Disney. I have had some ideas rolling around and my Q-Plan kept getting pushed based on some great leadership stepping up to fill the Q-Sheet (including Bobby Dahl’s VQ which was brutal). Given the recent postings that kicked off around mental health and PTSD awareness I thought we should incorporate some of that into the beat down. So… We took a friend along with us for the ride today (about a 30lb rock) and we did a shit ton of merkins.

FNGs: NOPE
Warm Up: Quick trip around the lot to circle up. SSH x25, 5 Burpees OYO, Imperial Walker x10, Good morning x10, Daisy Picker x10, SSH x15
The Workout: Bataan Death March – But we’re going slow and low and carrying our friend. 1st man out with the rock and mosey along to exchange with the first person in line. Repeato for almost a mile to the half-circle behind the school.

Count off in 2’s and pair up.Ā  DORA 200 LBC’s 400 Merkins, 600 Squats…..Partner splits first and taking a loop up the stairs and across the trailers with 2 stops before back down the other stairs to return to your partner. 1st stop 10 merkins to the corner past the top of the stairs another 10 merkins back to your partner.Ā  After the first loop around the rock was brought into play. It was exchanged through each group so everyone could get a turn carrying it around. Because of time we had to end early, which I know everyone was not happy about… Nemo – not knowing I was gonna have to cut us off early said he would have done more squats if he knew. Ha. Q knew that this was a risk going in of not being able to finish but also wanted to see how far we could get.

Return with the rock for Mary.

Mary: Homer to Marge x10 RL, WWI x10, WWII x10, We’ll call this one The Crotch (basically your soles of shoes are touching and knees folded out, laying on your back. You reach forward using your abs to move your hands from over your “cup” forward.) x10 and then hold as directed by the Q x10 + 5 holds, LBC’s x10 IC, Iron Cross x10, A standing crunch x20.Ā  HND.
Announcements: “Q Swap” starting 8/10 – opportunity to show off between Fuquay and Holly Springs. Mookie to post details soon.
T-Claps (Recognition): Welcome back Kid Cracker! We’ve missed you. Also – POTS – Dude sprinted up the lot hill to Mary hauling ass and carrying that rock over his head.
Prayer: Full House’s extended family, Hump from F3 Raleigh and his M as they are going through some birth complications.

Did Bambi Smell my Farts???

Four PAX sauntered out on EC ready to improve their mile splits, while feeling like they were wearing a sweater with the thick blanket of humidity.Ā  Shamwow was quick to point out 3 deer about half a mile in as soon as YHC let four very timely farts from his nether regions, Dahmer laughed with amusement as the deer ran off.

9 Eager PAX began warmup, not realizing what YHC had in store, lap around the soccer field and then back to the parking lot for some good mornings x 10 count, daisy pickers x 15, SSH x 20, Fazio arm circles front and back, moving into overhead clap x 10 and then IW’s x 15.

YHC intended to have the Indian run up to go straight to the big parking lot via passing by the abyss, until Nemo happened to pipe up and wondered why we weren’t stopping.Ā  Indian run train paused to let the passengers off for a DORA, two men teams 50 merkins, 100 LBC’s and 150 squats with alternating partner running down for 5 x star jumps.Ā  Post completion of DORA, PAX headed back aboard the Indian run train to head to the originally intended target, big parking lot.

Arriving at the lot DB asked what they did to piss off YHC, nothing, just wanting to serve up a beat down :).Ā  PAX then moved into 4 corners in the lot – two teams – all staying together for 10 x wide grip merkins at corner 1, 10 x lunges at corner 2, 20 mountain climbers IC at corner 3 and 20 prisoner squats at corner 4, rinse and repeat.

All once again hopped on the Indian run train to head to the benches for alternating irkins, dirkins and dips x 10 while other group did 15 x shoulder taps in cadence.Ā  PAX hopped on the train for the last stop back at the soccer field for Mary.

Mary started with 10 x american hammer, 15 x box cutter, 10 x 6 inch leg lift, 10 x low slow flutter, 15 x reverse LBC and 10 burpees courtesy of POTS.Ā  Train came to a stop with have a nice day.

Prayer requests: Crablegs, family of Clay (Roger Roger’s neighbor) who lost his battle with cancer and Flanigan for minor cardiac procedure.

T Claps: All PAX for putting in some sweat equity this morning

Take me out to the ball game

This morning YHC promised some fun at the workout while everyone was gathering around.Ā  Not “fun” fun but actual fun.Ā  I hope I delivered on that.

FNGs: Not today

EC:Ā Norm

Warm Up:

Lap around the tennis courts and then circle up in the parking lot for:

SSH x20 IC

Frankenstein x10 IC

Butt Kickers x10 IC

Windmills x10 IC

Daisy Pickers x10 IC

Imperial Walkers x10 IC

Merkins x10

The Workout:

A quick swing past my car to grab a ball and bat and we ran down to the concession stand to rip off some quick sets at the short wall.Ā  We did 10 stepups with each leg (20 in all), and then 10x irkins, dips, and dirkins.

Afterwards we headed down to the softball field and met at home plate.Ā  PAX counted off to establish batting order and instructions were given.Ā  Each one would get up to bat and hit the ball.Ā  We would all run to the ball and the batter would call out a 10 count of an excercise of their chosing.Ā  If the ball did not make it past the pitcher’s mound before hitting the ground there would be 2 penalty burpees and a strike out would result in 5 burpees.Ā  Luckily no one struck out and there were only two instances of the ball not making it in the air past the mount.Ā  Lots of different exercises were called out and I can’t remember them all but there were burpees (there always has to be that one guy), star jumps, bobby hurleys, LBCs, big boy situps, monkey humpers, and a lot more.Ā  I think in all we made it through 16 batters.

After the first time through the line up we “ran the bases”.Ā  Bear crawls were done from home to 1st base, crawl bears from 1st to 2nd, crab walks from 2nd to 3rd, and duck walks from 3rd to home.Ā  Afterwards we started back at the top of the lineup.

Once we started to run out of time we gathered on the drive way for a slow Indian run up to the tennis courts to circle up for…

Mary:

YHC called out an exercise that he learned while perusing the exicon one night called the Dr. W.Ā  It’s an 8 count exercise.Ā  I’ll let the exicon describe it:

“Dr. W is a sufferable 8-count ab exercise that combines Dolly, Rosalita, and the W; often within the 6MOM. Always a #CrowdPleaser. 1 is legs apart like a Low Dolly, 2 is legs together, 3 is raise the legs to Rosalita position (45-60 degrees-ish), 4 is spread ā€˜em, 5 is The W (hands together and stretching forward between your legs), 6 is the return to your back (legs still up), 7 is legs together, 8 is legs down. 5-8 Dr. W’s is a good start to get the pax coordinated with the counting. 10 is a magic # that most build up to 15 is just dumb and torture #FetalPositionMaker Qtip ā€“ We always emphasize that the W is on the 5 count. Kinda breaks down the motions and gives a 2nd starting point.”

We did 10 of those.Ā  I like them, they’re fun.Ā  After that it was 10x American Hammers and then HAND.

Announcements:

Bass Lake mulch again this weekend.Ā  There were several HIM that signed up but now can’t do it so there are open slots for those interested.

New COVID friendly BRR guidelines came out yesterday from the race director.

Prayer:

1st responders.

Crosby has been sick.Ā  Hopefully he recovers soon and can get back to his regular not posting.

Thanks for the privilege of leading you all this morning.

Have you lost your mind?

Today was my first Q as AO Site Lead for Disney. It’s an honor to take this location over. It’s got a long history of beat downs and just the space you have to work with is unmatched to any other AO in SW. Overhearing conversations last week, and picking up from my last Q here that was character themed, I listened to Dawg talking about the street artists at the Park… Let’s see what we can do with that…

FNGs: NADA
Warm Up: Quick Mosey, Good Morning, SSH, Frankenstein, Sir Fazio, Overhead Claps, Seal Claps. Let’s go.
The Workout:

1st Stop: The Bowl – Q split the PAX down the middle and groups were instructed to up one side 5 merkins, down and up the other 5 merkins – That’s 1.Ā  Continue to 5 for a total of 50 Merkins.

Regroup and form 1 line for Bataan Death March. (Those unfamiliar – Leader sprints out from line, runs to back, as he passes the line the next person up sprints out, and so on and so on..) Continued to the large lot at the School. As we made our way through the lot, Q called out corner locations as landmarks.

2nd Stop: Circle in front of the school. Count off by 2’s.

Group 1 – Plank walk around the circle curb; Group 2 – 3 corners as a group in the parking lot – Counterclockwise. Corner 1 10 Star Jumps, Corner 2 10 Squats, Corner 3 10 Plank Jacks IC.

Switch & Repeat following clockwise

Group Moved to adjacent circle’s curb – Crab walk around the circle – 3 moves, 3 baby-dips. Group 2 Back around the parking lot again for same exercises above. This is where shit hit the fan…. Everyone started complaining and I thought my plans would go off the rails… (Note to first-time Q’s. When people start bitching you usually have a stellar thang going…. Work through it… Press on…) Both groups did some level of modification and some picked up on my plans and supported with a mosey around the circle!

I tried, Hidden Mickey!

Enough of that. Mosey back to the flag

Mary: WWI x20, LBC x20 IC, 6 inch hold 10 counts (x3), LSF IC x20, HND.

T-Claps (Recognition): Flo-Jo. Dude powered through the first traffic circle. I think he was the only one to make it all the way around with no break!
Prayer: YHC took us out

Warm Up:

Mosey across to the old Ivan parking lot.

SSH x30 IC

Sir Fazio x15 forward x15 backward

We removed the bear crawl and crab walk for the last two rounds because we were running out of time.
Mary:

Sadly we ran out of time to close out with a song, so we settled for 30x Low Slow Flutter IC and 30x LBCs IC.

An honor to lead this morning men – thank you for the encouragement and accountability for another year!

Whatā€™s Wrong with You?

My first post at Disney was on January 2nd of this year. This was after starting F3 back in October and maybe 15-20 total posts up to that point. Not 100% sold on F3 yet, this was the workout that started the fire! I think it was a throwback co-Q by Deadbolt and somebody else. I had only heard of Disney from others prior to this. Ā Stories of a pax named Pablo who would make fellas ā€œMerlotā€ on this thing called the Abyss circulated around me enough that I was honestly a bit nervous that this was the AO that I would simply not be able to keep up with, considering just coming off about a 3 year layoff from working out. The workout on January 2nd was focused, intense, constantly moving, and structured. We went so many places in the park in such a short time that morning. Though I started Q ing late in January, I knew enough to know that a quality Disney Q needs to bring it! So about 30 lbs. lighter and in much better shape YHC took the reins at Disney with 10 other pax ready to ride as many rides as we could.

FNGā€™s:Ā none

EC:Ā Nemo, Shamwow!, Mookie, Emeril

Warm Up: SSH, GMā€™s, Seal Claps, Overhead Claps, Frankensteinā€™s. Mosey to the big hill on the far side of the field.
The Workout: Take the hill stack. 10 burpees, take the hill. 10 burpees, 20 squats at the top. Ā Run the ridge, 10 burpees, 20 squats, 30 mountain climbers. Ā When I called this is when Emeril looked at me and said, ā€œWhatā€™s wrong with you?ā€

Mosey to other side of fence for 5 count per pax Peopleā€™s Chair followed by 30 ct. fence squats. Mosey to the Abyss.

We did split group 7ā€™s on the Abyss with burpees at the bottom and WW1 at the top. Plank hold for the 6.

2 line Indian runs to the high school. 30 bench dips.

With Indian run lines remaining in effect, we did a few hill repeats with 2 merkins at the bottom, run to the top, 4 star jumps, back down, 6 merkins, to the top, 8 star jumps, on the way down, several pax were quick to let YHC know we didnā€™t have a whole lot of time to get back to the flag. OR they didnā€™t want to do more hill repeats. Either way, these pax were right on so we finished with 20 merkins. Indian run in a whole group back to the flag.

Mary: H2M, H2M single leg, Box Cutters, Pickle Pounders.
Announcements: Rune continues. Ā Bass Lake mulch project.

Ā Honor to lead men!

When applying for such funding, an important criteria is, How many folks does would the project serve? Thus, it is very important to have an accurate head count of the community. So, please complete your Census 2020 as soon as you receive your code in the mail.

Coronavirus is here too. Two staff in Docā€™s NCSU Dept. of Applied Ecology are on a team of modelers on a nationwide team that is predicting (modeling) the spread of the virus.
