Empty Nest

YHC checked the Q-sheet last week after having told H1N1 he’d cover for him while he was gone and saw that everyone’s favorite delivery driver, FedEx, had already claimed today’s spot at The Nest.  With mind at ease, no workout planning was employed.  After being the first to arrive on site three cars appeared and took their place in the damp and foggy lot.  As 4 HIM poured from their vehicles we were noticeably lacking a Q.  The time to start arrived and we looked around once more for a final look when we saw headlights make a turn towards us.  Alas, they continued down the road and we got started with the workout, sans Q.

FNGs: None.  We didn’t even have a Q.

Warm Up:

YHC lead the PAX in a lap around the parking lot before circling up for the warmup.

The Workout:

All PAX agreed to a round-robin workout where each one would take a turn coming up with an exercise.  Spoiler alert: there were a lot of 11’s.

Double D – 11’s between two ends of a section of the parking lot. LBCs on one side and mountain climbers on the other.

Black Knight – 11’s with Merkins and star jumps

Sugar – 11’s with plank jacks and squats

Beater – Led us in a multi-leveled Indian run.  We started with Frankensteins while the back of the line ran to the front in typical Indian run fashion and resumed Frankensteins at the front.  After the line cycled through once we continued on, doing duck walks instead.  After that we went on to bear crawls and ended with an extended crab walk section that brought us back to the start/finish line.  10 burpes finished up the round.

In similar fashion we went around the circle calling out exercises.  Double D lead us off with a new exercise he had seen.  It is an unnamed excercise but he dubed it El Lobo (I think). You start in high plank position and then put one hand behind your head like you’re preparing to do a sit up.  On the down you twist your core and reach your raised elbow down towards your extended arm.  We did 10 of these with each arm.

The remaining exercises were LBCs (I’m only about 60% sure on this one), Homer to Marge, slow WWIIs, and Sleeping Hillbillies.

All the PAX today for collectively leading an intense beat down that did result in a particular HIMs merlot.  I don’t want to name names but his starts with a B and ends with a lack Night.

Prayer:

All of the families dealing with the tragedy from this weeks events.  Pray also for the first responders who deal with the emotional and psychological stress of those situations.  And also pray for those with mental illness, that they may have the courage to ask for help when they need it.

The Workout: Ultimate Frisbee!

Side Notes: An actual glow in the dark frisbee (read: with lights) has been purchased since most of us had a really hard time seeing my current disk. Look for Ultimate continuing even as it gets gloomier, first Monday of every month.

Dora Returns to Sheepdog

The Workout:Splint into teams of 2 (1 team of 3).  The goal was to complete 100 Merkins, 100 LBCs and 300 Squats.  The team of 3 completed 150, 300, and 600.  PAX 1 executed as many reps as possible while PAX 2 rand the length of the parking lot and back.  This did not take as long as expected.  Rinse and repeat.  On the second round no the exercises were changed to 200 overhead press, 200 reverse LBCs and 400 calf raises.

Once complete, Norm reviewed Rooting and Striking.  30 single strikes and 30 – 3 count strikes.

Passport check by FVPD

YHC arrived at Kenny’s Grave at0457 to find a cop keeping an eye on a white SUV in the back parking lot. Some guy with neon socks, a light around his head, no shirt with some wires around his chest. Oh wait, that was just Warbucks getting a welcome to FV from the PD checking his passport. 6 PAX eventually made there way to get their schweat on. Here we go.

The Workout:

Count off 1-7, Then some combination of this: #1 took a lap around the parking lot, rest Balls to the Wall & Captains Chair. #2 took a lap, rest SSH & squats. #3 took a lap, LBCs. #4 took a lap, Merkins & Shoulder taps. #5 took a lap, Star jumps and Squats.  #6 took a lap, Homer to Marge. #7 took a lap,  WW2.

Moseyed over to the hill for 7s. Burpees at the top, squats at the bottom.

Rinse and Repeat.  Called an audible to Merkins for second round of 7s.

1 final group lap for fun.

The Workout:

Modified Apple Turnovers: Bear crawl 2 parking spaces, merkin, flip over, WW2, crab walk back 2 parking spaces, WW2, flip over, merkin. Repeat 4 times OYO, then picked up the 6.

Moseyed to the wall for Ascending and Descending Testicles. YHC called out various degrees until his arms were jello. At 90 degrees, some of us discovered that we can get our feet over the top of the wall…file that away for another workout.

We then moseyed back to the parking lot for 4 Corners, Abs and Legs edition. PAX partnered up, each partner did 50 of an exercise while a second exercise was held.

At Corner 1, 50 squats, hold squat.

Mosey to Corner 2, 50 low slow flutter, hold legs 6 inches above ground.

Bear crawl to Corner 3, 50 star jumps, hold squat.

Mosey to Corner 4, 50 WW2s, hold legs 6 inches above ground. Crab walk back to Corner 1.

We then moseyed back to the wall for Ascending and Descending Testicles, round 2.

Finally, moseyed to the shelter.

Warm Up

A fun jog around Club Worx back to the tennis courts for warm up consisting of: 36 SSH for 36 months of F3 for me, good mornings, daisy pickers, imperial walkers and hill billy’s.

 

The Workout

  • Line up on the tennis courts for: wheel barrels, bear crawls, crawl bears, crab walk and reverse crab walks
  • Run to rock pile, grab rocks and then line up on soccer field for fun with rocks consisting of curls for the girls, ruh rohs, triceps extensions and LipSync’s 8 step full body lift that is actually only 6 steps. Between each arm exercise run to other end of field and back which included one 10 set of merkins for one of the runs because we were 20 minutes into the workout and haven’t done any merkins.
  • John Cusack to parking lot for down and back Bearly Curling.
  • Return rocks and separate into 2 groups of 8 so each brother can do 10 abyss merkins between 2 picnic tables while the other 7 did various experiences consisting of LBCs, WWII and monkey humpers
  • Run to little pavilion for 10 dips and then run to tennis courts for Mary consisting of Freddy Mercurys, low slow flutter, American hammers and 1 minute of have a nice day.

The Workout:

Ultimate Frisbee, Shirts v Skins!

For every drop, we did an exercise. Exercise switched after 2 goals. Burpees, hand release merkins, turkish getups, LBCs, squats, few other things.

Every goal, PAX called an exercise the group did. Scorers only had to do half, if they wanted.

Highlights: Some great catches by lots of PAX (even the ones that were out of bounds!), lots of blocks and sprints

High Lights: The glare from the lights, the glare from the Skins

Low Lights: the not-so-glow-in-the-dark frisbee, LED being so tanned we kept thinking he was a Shirt

YHC will be leading ladder sprints post-workout at Fuquay AOs for interested PAX (thinking Mutiny and Kenny’s Grave/Sheepdog). Great way to improve your speed and endurance. Only takes a few minutes, it’s worth it.
