1776 – Celebration of Freedom

There are lots of ways one might choose to celebrate the freedom that we so often take for granted. The F3 way is to have a brutal beatdown that serves as a reminder that freedom isn’t free – it was purchased and preserved by countless patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Warm Up: RAM saved my butt by taking PAX through some life saving warm-ups before I arrived.
The Workout: A workout so terrifying that Chuck Norris checks for it under his bed every night.

Set up the toys in a row with a pax at each. Log #2 was pulled for a Hobbits Tale (there and back again) as a timer. When Log #2 left the station the pax started working. When the log got back the pax would stop and shift to the left to the next toy or plank, mountain climber, or murcan. I stole this idea from Pikachu when he did it at Possum Trot because theft is the greatest form of flattery.

Round 1 and 2:
Tire- toe taps
KB- swings
Ruck- Deadlift
Log 1- shoulder presses shifting from each shoulder.
Log 2- pull down and back

PAX without a toy held plank for round 1 and mountain climbers for round 2.

PAX without a toy did Murcan’s. Added in Imperial walkers and LBCs before PAX started the next exercise.

Mary: Mary was quite contrary because we did LBC’s during the workout.

Warm Up:  With the help of FoulBall:  side saddle hops, cherry pickers, good evenings, fazio arm circles

The Workout:

Rock pile:  5 rounds of 15, 12 and 10 reps of:  Curls, triceps extensions, squats, upright rows and shoulder press.

Run to ten poles, doing 1 increasing to 10 merkins at each pole.

Dice game with a round of each pax rolling and leading with 10 reps of:

Grab a rock – bearly curling across the entire parking lot

Mosey to the playground – 2x10x pull up sets with LBCs and low slow flutters after each x10 IC

Mosey to the amphitheater – 10x preachers chair and BTTW down the line

Memorial Day Murph Challenge- 2021

32 Pax showed up today to help me (Shredder) celebrate my 4 year F3 anniversary and more importantly pay respect to our nation’s fallen during our annual Memorial Day Murph Challenge.

Impressive effort by all, especially after the May Challenge. 30 joined in on the Murph, Dauber (IR) joined to capture the event and support with donuts, and Breach (after doing a Murph at 0600) stopped by to give us his thoughts on Memorial Day and his recent visit to Arlington National Cemetery.

Warm Up: short warm-up with SSH, Good Mornings, Willie Mays Hayes, & Frankensteins. Pax counted off by 2s and headed off in opposite directions for Mile 1.

The Workout: 1 mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, 100 mile run.  Since this is F3 the last mile was an Indian Run race with the slower group having to knock out 50, scratch that, 20 Burpees. After a quick “speech”, the two groups took off in their different directions.

The mental battle was in full effect as my mind kept telling me “you need to quit”, just after I told everyone we needed to learn to Embrace the Suck. But Pax did what they do best and mentally drug me through the last mile.

As everyone wrapped up their last mile and came back together, guess what…..? Yep. We all did Burpees.

T-Claps (Recognition): We raised $425+ for HSPD first response bags. Sprinkler’s team donated 1/2 of their May Challenge winnings to the 1st response bags and 1/2 to the FQV bed building. Great work #HIM.

Split up into 2 groups. The pax went around the circle. Pax will hold plank. Pax in the back will Burpee and bear crawl to the front. When we got to the fence we did 5 each leg Bulgarian squats. I will think about how I can improve this workout.

First Dora – Partner 1 jogs around the fence while Partner 2 starts on 100 Ground Pounders, 150 Tricep Extensions and 200 Curls all done with the rocks.

Second Dora – Partner 1 does 1 Rock Squat and then John Cusack to the second post, 2 rock squats, then John Cusack to the third post, 3 rock squats, then John Cusack to the 4th post, 4 rock squats, John Cusack back to the start while Partner 2 starts on 100 Merkins, 200 Squats and 300 Monkey Humpers in cadence.

Mary: Some more stretching as we were all feeling some tighteness in our hammy’s

March Madness at Thunder

This is a backblasts that YHC is writing a month or so late as I got caught up in Snowbird’s March Madness Challenge in Raleigh and Backblasts got put on the Back-burner.

Workout Date: 03/31/21
For those of you who have been following Raleigh’s March Madness Challenge, the biggest competition was in the second week between Boitano and Spit Valve. These men went head to head: posting, pre-running, doubling down, even tripling down. When the dust settled, Boitano was victorious by a point! I asked Spit Valve what happened, and that’s when I found out about Thunder in South Wake. I immediately signed up to Q for 3/31.

The Heart of March Madness

Warm Up:

Naked Moleskin:
Boitano did not show. As late as this morning, he was still in the competition, trying to throw me off after The Blitz. He sent me congratulations earlier in the day, but I couldn’t decide if it was another head fake until halfway through Thunder. I still expected him to roll up with two FNGs.
Speaking of FNGs, Gizmo is my first FNG! Thank you, Boitano for pushing me. There’s no way I would’ve reached out to him it weren’t for you. He even texted me to bail out about 45 minutes before the workout. So I told him about the competition and that he could very well be the difference. It worked!
And my month-long CSAUP comes to a close. Well done, Boitano. You’re a hell of a competitor! (and pretty sneaky)

Warm Up: 10x3cts of: Good Mornings, Willy Maze Hays, Windmills, Fazio Arm Circles (both directions), 20x3ct SSH.

The Workout

Circle of Rock: Mosey to the rock pile pick a MLarge rock.

3 sets of 10x3ct: Curls for the girls (or whatever your partner’s gender neutral pronoun might be), Overhead Tricep Press, Rut Rows, and Ground Pounders.

Mosey to the putting green

6 shots at the green, bear crawl to your disc and lunge walk back. (if you happen to make it,  no exercises are required crawls required).

6 shots to make it a dozen but add in exercises in-between throws (10×3 ct Squats, SSH, Emperial Walkers, LBCs, Freddie Mercuries, and Box Cutters)

Mosey to the B-ball court for 3 rounds of knock out

2 balls in play, line up and try to knock out the HIM shooting in front of you. Once you are knocked out, PAX exercise till last man is standing.  Moroccan Night Clubs, SSH, and Prisoner Squats

3 sets of 10×3 ct Single Leg Step Ups, Dips and Derkins
